To merge two universes that everything seems to oppose – fashion and the automobile – is the unique bet launched by MINI Belux and the Belgian creative label mosaert. After several weeks of teasing, MINI Belux and mosaert unveil their project: the MINI Electric mosaert Edition. A limited edition available from April 22. At stake, the wish to take an even more sustainable turn for the car manufacturer and the opportunity, for the mosaert label, to leave the track. In order to make an impression, several avenues were explored by the partners. In the end, it was the personalization of a MINI Electric that was chosen. “When MINI contacted us to co-create a car, it was unexpected, but exciting,” explains Coralie Barbier, stylist for the collective. It is an iconic brand with a rich heritage, and the launch of an electric model stuck with our eco-responsible approach ”.

Sustainability as a common value

In the automotive market, MINI has positioned itself as a sustainable brand since its inception: designed in the midst of the oil crisis (1959), it offers family cars that reduce the use of materials and resources. The MINI is proof that we can do “more with less” and the marketing of the brand’s first 100% electric vehicle in March 2020 is part of this eco-responsible approach. “Those who know mosaert know that he attaches great importance to a minimal footprint as well as elegance – qualities which also characterize the MINI brand. From the start, the two parties were on the same wavelength ”, explains Joachim Sas, Sales Manager of MINI Belux.

Ready to drive

MINI’s design is elegant and timeless, but it is also characterized by its simplicity: a monochrome color for the body and variants for the roof. Characteristics from which the mosaert label was inspired. “A limited volume edition is a unique opportunity for MINI. The mosaert touch has a very strong impact and perfectly reinforces the design of our MINI Electric model, it is the most exclusive finish of the range ”explains Alexandre Cuvelier, Product Manager of MINI Belux.

It was finally the green MINI model with an off-white roof from the 1960s, the British Racing Green that caught mosaert’s attention. The tartan then naturally established itself as the main motif of creation. This pattern comes in a classic color palette: the British Racing Green and the Energetic Yellow of the MINI logo. “We did not want a kitsch car, super charged, difficult to handle on a daily basis”, specifies Luc Van Haver. This ready-to-wear side was also a desire on the part of MINI.

That’s not all. A ready-to-wear capsule accompanies the launch of the MINI Electric mosaert Edition. In line with the label’s previous collections, the pieces are unisex, made in Europe, from 100% recycled and / or organic materials and available in limited quantities. On the graphic side, we find the tartan pattern matching the lines of the MINI mosaert. We also find nods to the two teams: a print inspired by Toile de Jouy, the cloud – emblem of the mosaert collective – and soft colors.
