About the Car

2021 Hyundai i30 N UK Version

The Hyundai i30 N originally launched in 2017, selling over 28,000 units in Europe alone and winning a number of awards, including the Auto Bild Sports Car of the Year 2018 and 2020. In 2020, i30 N was “Import Winner” in the “Small and Compact Car” category in the 2020 Auto Bild Sports Cars Award. Hyundai N models have inspired a community of fans known as “N-thusiasts”. The new i30 N builds on the successes of its predecessor, offering a range of design and driving enhancements. It is equipped with more lightweight materials, resulting in more agility and better handling. Like its antecedent model, the new i30 N is available in both hatchback and fastback body types.

2021 Hyundai i30 N - UK Version

The new i30 N has been enhanced with a new design focused on performance, emotion and statement. For the first time, the new i30 N will be available with N DCT, an eight-speed dual-clutch transmission, which offers paddle shifters and enables three new N performance functions for an even sportier driving experience. New 19-inch forged alloy wheels and optional N Light Seats further reduce the weight, resulting in more agile handling. Additional high-performance driving features combined with updated safety and connectivity technology makes the new i30 N a racetrack capable everyday sports car.

Design

The design of the new i30 N is focused on dynamic performance. Fresh enhancements from the previous model include new LED headlamps with V-shaped Daytime Running Lights (DRLs), V-shaped LED combi lamps at the rear, and a sleek altered bumper dominated by typical aerodynamic side fins, incorporating the air curtains to improve airflow and reduce turbulence.

Coming in seven exterior colours, the new i30 N is available in a wide variety of customisable options for drivers’ personalities and driving types. The distinctive N signature is found on the wide centre grille and integrated onto the wheel caps.

Classy interior materials and sporty, dark metal inserts underline the elegant character of the i30 N and its affiliation with motorsport. The seats come in one tone: Black with artificial suede and leather. N Light Seats with leather and Alcantara® are optional. The design focus of the new i30 N’s interior lays aims to connect the driver with the car at all touch points. For the first time, the new i30 N is also available with optional N Light Seats.

Powertrains

The new i30 N comes with a four-cylinder 2.0-litre turbocharged engine with either a six-speed manual transmission (6MT) or a new eight-speed Dual-Clutch Transmission (N DCT). The N DCT enables three new N performance functions for an even sportier experience: N Power Shift, N Grin Shift and N Track Sense Shift.

With the standard UK trim, the new i30 N with 6MT delivers a maximum power output of  280 PS, flat power and a maximum torque of  392Nm.

As with its predecessor, the new i30 N is equipped with a range of high-performance driving features including Rev Matching, Launch Control, rear stiffness bar, and more.

Ride and Handling

The new i30 N features an Electronic Controlled Suspension (ECS). Along with the suspension, the steering system has been retuned to match a refined performance for both transmission types. Customers benefit from the N Corner Carving Differential, an Electronically Controlled Limited Slip Differential (eLSD), and an increased brake disk size for an even better braking performance.

Safety

The new i30 N features safety upgrades, utilising more Hyundai SmartSense active safety and driver assistance features. Forward Collision-avoidance Assist (FCA) has been upgraded to detect both vehicles and pedestrians, Lane Following Assist (LFA) is implemented in all models.

Tech and Connectivity

The connectivity equipment in Hyundai N models is also optimised for high-performance driving. The new i30 N features a Performance Driving Data System to monitor and improve driving skills, with updated graphics for even more ease of use. The feature saves and displays driving data, including information on PS, torque, and even includes an acceleration timer for those who drive on the track. It also features an optional 10.25‑inch touchscreen navigation system with Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and the latest version of Bluelink.

Focused on Fun to Drive

The i30 N was originally developed on the basis of the three cornerstones of N: Corner Rascal, Everyday Sports Car and Race Track Capability. The i30 N stands for ‘Fun to Drive’.

The i30 N was developed to make the driver’s heart beat faster when he or she gets behind the wheel. Instead of focusing on pure numbers, Hyundai Motor has chosen to emphasise driving pleasure and the emotional impact on the driver’s heartbeats per minute (BPM), rather than simply measuring revs per minute (RPM). A number of high-performance driving features and a performance-oriented instrument cluster contribute to an all-around sporty experience.

The design is based on true high-performance vehicles and includes Hyundai’s cascading grille at the front, aggressive-looking front and rear bumpers, and a new rear spoiler. According to the principle “form follows function”, the car design enhances aerodynamic and cooling performance. Its operation focuses on the pure connection between the car and the driver. Now, the design has been enhanced to give the new i30 N an even more racetrack-inspired look and improve aerodynamics.
