In addition to 9 airbags, it is equipped with advanced semi-autonomous technologies such as adaptive cruise control with Stop & Go, autonomous braking assistant with pedestrian detection and LED headlights with automatic high beam. Its SYNC 3 multimedia center with an 8” screen, complete with high quality B&O sound and wireless cell phone charger. It also has the connectivity features of the FordPass app, such as remote starting and vehicle location via cell phone.

In the cabin, there are also partially leather seats with heating, a digital instrument panel with a 6.5” screen, 110 V and 12 V electrical outlets, smart storage compartments and a trunk with a load management system that allows you to create different partitions and even an auxiliary table.Launched for R$256,900, with all these attributes, the Bronco Sport offers a superior package than its direct competitors in the same price range.

User experience

The Bronco Sport is one of the first projects to use Ford’s new user experience-focused product development process, in which the team of designers and engineers put themselves in the role of customers to seek out relevant experiences and solutions in car use. .

The clinics were carried out in California, USA, and their project had as chief engineer a Brazilian, Alex Machado, current director of Product Development at Ford South America.

The Bronco Sport has been tested in the most demanding conditions on the planet, to Ford’s strict standards, and is backed by a three-year warranty.

Powerful and agile

The Bronco Sport has a 2.0-litre EcoBoost engine, with turbo and direct injection, which generates 240 hp (@ 5,500 rpm) and 38 kgfm of torque (@.3000 rpm). Combined with the vehicle’s weight of 1,718 kg, which results in a power-to-weight ratio of 7.16 kg per horse, it guarantees an engaging and sporty drive. And it’s also fast: it accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 8 seconds.

The eight-speed SelectShift automatic transmission, with manual shift keys and oil cooler, runs smoothly and precisely. The tires are all-terrain, 225/65 R17 Pirelli Scorpion AT. This set draws attention both for its on-road and off-road performance, evidencing the vehicle’s versatility of use.

In addition to the elevated driving position and long hood, which increase the perception of road control, the Bronco Sport has a great turning circle, with good response and steering precision. The cabin’s careful sound insulation enhances the feeling of comfort.

Off-road champion

The Bronco Sport features technologies that guarantee a memorable and confident off-road experience on all types of terrain. Its dynamics were inspired by the Baja Rally, one of the toughest off-road competitions in the world.

This is evidenced by the shorter wheelbase of 2,670 mm, entry (30.4º), exit (33.1º) and ramp crossing angles (24.4º), as well as ground clearance. 223 mm, which also provides an excellent driving position. Two front hooks facilitate towing in the event of a quagmire.

The front suspension is MacPherson-type independent, with forged aluminum arms and long travel. Its exclusive high-performance off-road stability suspension system (HOSS – High-Performance Off-Road Stability Suspension), with 40% less unsprung weight compared to the rigid axle, increases the tire’s contact with the ground and favors cornering stability and high speed. Independent rear suspension is mounted on a subframe isolated from the bodywork.

Off-road autopilot is a new feature that brings more confidence and safety on challenging trails, such as uphill, downhill, erosion and slippery terrain, at speeds up to 32 km/h, or below 10 km/h in reverse. Similar to cruise control used on the road, it controls the accelerator and brakes and takes the stress out of the driver, who can concentrate on driving and navigation.

The 180° front camera provides a wide view of the track to avoid rocks, potholes and other obstacles. It automatically switches on in Sand, Mud and Rock driving modes at speeds up to 25 km/h. It can also be enabled in other modes, by a button on the panel, and has a lens washer.

The Bronco Sport has an immersion capacity of 600 mm and excellent insulation against the ingress of water, also useful in situations of flooding in cities. Its stability control module includes a lateral and longitudinal tilt sensor, which can be viewed in the off-road option – one of the 11 screens available on the instrument panel.

Dual-clutch rear-wheel drive controls the wheels independently, varying torque, and can also disconnect the 4×4 drive when not needed, to save fuel. The rear differential lock is another unique feature of the Bronco Sport when maximum traction is required.

Terrain modes

The Bronco Sport’s seven terrain management modes – Normal, Eco, Sport, Slippery, Sand, Rock and Mud/Terrain – also known as GOAT Modes (“Goes Over Any Type of Terrain”) allow you to customize the experience on the road or off-road. They adjust four vehicle systems: steering, electronic stability and traction control, transmission and engine response.

Each mode is indicated in the following situations:

·         Normal – for everyday use of the vehicle.

·         Eco – prioritizes fuel economy, with gear changes at lower revs, 4×2 traction and less responsive accelerator pedal.

·         Sporty – geared towards performance on asphalt. In addition to stiffer steering and suspension, it increases acceleration and the transmission maintains lower gears for longer.

·         Slippery – makes it easier to control the vehicle on wet or icy surfaces. Traction control is more responsive, keeping the tires in contact with the ground.

·         Sand – exclusive for off-road use, on loose, deep and rutted surfaces. The engine and transmission increase traction and allow the wheels to spin so the vehicle is not stuck.

·         Rock (Rock Crawl) – designed to navigate uneven terrain, such as large rocks, at very low and controlled speed.

·    Mud / Dirt – offers an optimized experience on uneven terrain and mud. Stability and traction controls are less restrictive to allow the tires to spin more and remove mud from the ruts.

Style icon

The Bronco Sport has a design with a lot of personality. The square profile and round headlights are a modern and technological reinterpretation of the classic from the 60s. The high front features a darkened graphic element that surrounds the entire set of headlights and grille. Inside, the round light signature connects with an illuminated bar and the Bronco name prominently in place of the blue oval – a feature of the brand’s iconic cars.

The front and rear optics use LED technology, with geometric elements to create a striking look. Sculpted volumes on the hood, doors, wheel arches, C-pillar and rear help convey solidity and safety. The safari-style roof enhances the perception of interior space in the second row and also highlights the Bronco Sport’s height compared to other cars on the street.

The taillights are vertical and positioned outside the trunk lid. On the headlights, lanterns and other parts of the car, such as the rear window and the fuel nozzle, there are “Easter Eggs”, graphics with historical and functional references of the vehicle.

The two-tone bodywork – with black roof, pillars, bumpers and side moldings – underlines the SUV’s elegant functionality. Its exclusive palette has nine color options: Delhi Orange, Zadar Red, Dubai Brown, Arctic White, Dew Silver, Torres Grey, Malacara Blue, Lyse Blue and Asturias Black.

The interior of the Bronco Sport impresses with its refinement, silence and comfort, with a two-tone finish, black and brown, and materials with a differentiated texture. Functional areas are highlighted by pronounced geometric and vertical shapes in relation to the panel. The sculpted benches, with excellent ergonomics, are a show in their own right. In addition to covering in leather and suede on the upper part, with a velvety touch, they have heating.
