2021 Fiat Fiat 500 Brazilian Version
One of the most iconic vehicles in the global automotive industry is now arriving in Brazil. Fiat’s first 100% electric model sold in the country, the electric 500 arrives radically renewed in its third generation: developed on the new Mini EV platform, the vehicle is bigger, more connected, with unexpected equipment for the segment and with a new style, reinforcing its inherent vocation to change the environment around it. Fiat’s historic model, responsible for intelligent mobility since its launch in post-war Europe in 1957, the 500 symbolizes the essence of the brand today: pop, charming, spontaneous and Italian-Brazilian. More than a new product, the 500 electric shows Brazilian consumers how Fiat is aware of the demands of today’s society, which seeks sustainable, urban, connected and autonomous mobility.
The 500 electric will be sold in Brazil in the Icon version in ten concessionaires in nine cities: Porto Alegre (RS), Curitiba (PR), Florianópolis (SC), Campinas (SP), São Paulo (SP) with two stores, Rio de Janeiro (RJ), Belo Horizonte (MG), Brasília (DF) and Recife (PE).
Classic design in tune with modernity
Entirely new, yet unmistakably linked to its origins, the electric 500 reinterprets the classic model’s iconic look with a clean, up-to-date design. The simple, sinuous surfaces make the vehicle even more elegant and sculptural.
The new vehicle received a dedicated logo, which appears in the center of the front emblem for the first time. The current logo on the back maintains its link with the past, although transformed into the electrical configuration: differentiated and embellished by a light blue border, with a design and color that transforms the final zero into the letter “e”.
The electric 500 is immediately identified by the optical group with headlamps and miles round now Full LED, standing out by the DRL on the hood as if they were “eyebrows”, headlamps with the Infinite Mirror effect and direction lights on the bumper.
The new LED lighting is also in the flashlights. The rear features the classic luggage compartment and a new spoiler, now even more accentuated, that improves aerodynamic efficiency.
Without giving up its traditional proportion, the new vehicle grew its dimensions by 61 mm in length, 22 mm between the axles, 57 mm in width and 29 mm in height, favoring the internal space, but keeping the model compact and agile in the city . 16-inch alloy wheels with a dark finish ensure a bolder dynamic look.
New front grille, chrome inserts in the window frames and side badges and adoption of electronic instead of mechanical closing, giving the opportunity to redesign the handle, now fully integrated with an intelligent solution inside the door, are other elements of highlight and elegance, that increase the perception of quality in the look of the model.
A totally renovated interior
The interior of the electric Fiat 500 was designed as carefully as the exterior.

Focusing on horizontal lines emphasizes the real increase in internal space. Although the design is completely new, occupants will be able to recognize the contemporary interpretation of the model’s timeless styling. The dashboard inset, two-spoke steering wheel and rounded cluster make a clear connection to the original 1957 vehicle.
State-of-the-art in design, an infotainment system with a large 10.25” touchscreen in wide format combined with a 7” TFT digital cluster provides connectivity and information for a unique user experience.
Modular storage solutions between the two front seats, where the gearbox was originally located, significantly improved perceived comfort. A striking new center console offers 5.7 liter storage, a cup holder at the rear and an additional retractable cup holder at the front, along with a new armrest for greater riding comfort.
The flat floor that houses the lithium-ion batteries does not compromise the trunk’s capacity, which remains unchanged (185 l). The result is a well thought-out environment with fewer buttons.
In this sense, the traditional mechanical handle disappears, replaced by the e-latch button. The door panel was designed around this novelty, which gives a perception of technology and a more rational and essential look.

Mini BEV Architecture
The electric 500 is designed from a blank sheet. More than 90% of its components, including the Mini BEV platform, are exclusive. The position of the battery on the floor, for example, ensures the maintenance of space on board, improving the distribution of weight between the front and rear axles, lowering the vehicle’s center of gravity. These last two features significantly improved the compact’s stability, without sacrificing driving pleasure and safety.
With few modular components, the architecture received the high-capacity storage lithium-ion battery system (42 kWh), while improving the vehicle’s dimensions, comfort and performance. It also assured the driver of the most comfortable driving position and access to the rear seats.
As an entirely new project, the electric 500 also received a new steering column with axial adjustment, electric parking brake and a new rear axle, for example.
For the ideal urban vehicle, the best possible range
More important than performance numbers, the electric 500 demonstrates on a daily basis its incredible ability to respond to the demands of a modern urban compact vehicle.
For a vehicle in its category, the electric 500 has an excellent range of 320 kilometers, easily covering the average daily displacement of around 30 kilometers. Tests carried out by Fiat at the Polo Automotivo de Betim (MG) indicated that the car can reach 460 km of autonomy running in ideal conditions. To get an idea of what this represents, compared to a combustion engine, this autonomy would be equivalent to an average consumption above 62 km/l of fuel.
The electric motor delivers 87 kW, which equates to 118 horsepower at 4,200 rpm. What is most impressive, however, is the torque, which reaches an astonishing 220 Nm. This makes the electric Fiat 500 need 9 seconds to reach 100 km/h, and with a resumption of 60km/h to 100 km/h in 4 .8 seconds.

Synonymous with emotion, the electric 500, regardless of driving mode, holds other surprises. With regard to sounds, another unique feature of the new vehicle: the Acoustic Vehicle Alert System (AVAS), an acoustic warning for pedestrians and cyclists at speeds of up to 20 km/h. From 25 km/h, the chosen sound is not a common acoustic signal, but Amarcord, by Nino Rota, an example of the most authentic Italian creativity.
Uncomplicated loading
Conveniently, the electric 500 comes with a standard 20-foot-long home charging cable that plugs into a three-prong household outlet, and has adequate cable storage in the trunk of the vehicle.
The Type 2 smart socket, located on the right side of the vehicle, allows both AC (alternating current) and DC (direct current) charging. It is called “smart” because of the ability to schedule charging and provide information about the battery’s state of charge.
To optimize recharging time, the electric 500 includes an ultra-fast DC charging system up to 85 kW, to recharge the battery very quickly. In this way, it takes just 5 minutes – the same as drinking a coffee – to generate enough energy reserve to travel 50 kilometers within the city, more than what is needed for average daily use. And the ultra-fast charge can also charge the battery up to 80% in just 35 minutes.
New age of infotainment
The latest generation multimedia center with a 10.25” digital display, combined with a 100% digital 7” cluster, offers information in a renewed way on the 500 electric.
The 7” TFT display offers configurable, colorful and crisp graphics, allowing for a wide range of customer customization settings.
Emphasis was placed on commands and interface information linked to the electric vehicle in order to make all relevant data immediately available, with simple but well thought-out graphics. To facilitate knowledge and use of the vehicle’s various features, an assistant will explain the most relevant news on a slide show, possibly reminding the driver, through a pop-up, to make available a certain resource that is not being used.
The electric 500 is perfectly connected to the smartphone: it communicates with the driver inside and outside the car, allows you to define the navigation path in advance and even configure the air conditioning remotely, among other features.
More connected than ever
The electric 500 is more connected than ever. With the service platform that the brand offers, there is more convenience, assistance and control with much more security for the user, who will have at their disposal all the convenience of the resources also in the palm of their hand with their smartphone or even smartwatch and Virtual Assistant (Alexa).
