2021 BMW iX3 - European Version

  • Fully electric mobility debuts in a BMW X model: the new BMW iX3 (combined fuel consumption in the NEDC test cycle: 0.0 l / 100 km; combined electricity consumption: 17.8 – 17.5 kWh / 100 km; combined CO2 emissions: 0 g / km; combined fuel consumption over the WLTP test cycle: 0.0 l / 100 km; combined electricity consumption: 19.5 – 18.5 kWh / 100 km; CO2 combined: 0 g / km). The first BMW iX3 combines emission-free driving pleasure with the sporting qualities that distinguish BMW, the comfort, multi-functionality and breadth of the BMW X3. The BMW iX3 represents the final stage in the BMW Group’s electrification process;
  • The new BMW iX3 will be the brand’s first model to also be produced for export at the Shenyang manufacturing plant in China. The market launch will begin in China later in 2020.
  • The new BMW iX3 also embodies the strategic “Power of Choice” approach; with which the BMW Group meets both customer requests and stringent regulations around the world. The BMW X3 will be the first model to be available with highly efficient petrol and diesel engines, a plug-in hybrid system or an all-electric drive system.
  • The new BMW iX3 paves the way for fifth-generation BMW eDrive technology. Major advances in power density, operating range, weight, installation space requirements and flexibility. The power density of the electric motor in the iX3 is 30% higher than that of the fully electric vehicles offered by the BMW Group; the gravimetric energy density of the high voltage battery at the cell level of 20%. The latest versions of the electric motor, power electronics, charging technology and high-voltage battery (all developed in-house) will also be implemented in the BMW iNEXT and BMW i4 from 2021.
  • The efficiency has increased significantly compared to the BMW i3 thanks to the highly integrated transmission system technology. The electric motor, transmission and power electronics are now arranged together in a single compartment. The fifth generation BMW eDrive high-voltage battery with the latest battery cell technology and a gross energy content of 80 kWh enables an operating range of up to 460 kilometers [285 miles] in the new statutory WLTP test cycle ( up to 520 kilometers [323 miles] in the NEDC test cycle). The BMW Group monitors compliance with environmental and social standards as part of the procurement process for the lithium and cobalt used in battery cells.
  • The new fifth-generation BMW eDrive electric motor produces a maximum power of 210 kW / 286 hp and a maximum torque of 400 Nm (295 lb-ft). Acceleration from 0 to 100 km / h [62 mph] in 6.8 seconds (for comparison purposes – BMW X3 30i: 6.4 seconds), top speed (electronically limited): 180 km / h [112 mph]. The electric motor of the new BMW iX3 works on the principle of a synchronous motor without the use of magnets. This design avoids the use of rare earths in engine manufacturing.

  • The ability to recover variable amounts of energy allows you to choose between a pronounced single pedal feel with extensive brake energy recovery and coasting in driving position B and adaptive recovery including coasting in driving position D. recovery can be adjusted in three steps. Adaptive recovery improves driving comfort and efficiency by adjusting brake energy regeneration and coasting to the driving situation.
  • Power transfer to the rear wheels offers a classic BMW driving experience. The unparalleled combination of low electricity consumption and high charging capacity enables long distance travel at medium to high speeds. Adaptive suspension (standard) optimizes sporting performance and comfort.
  • The debut of BMW IconicSounds Electric in the BMW iX3 provides acoustic feedback to enrich the electric driving experience, giving it further emotional depth. Powerful actuation sound available with the “Impressive” equipment line. Unmistakable acoustic accompaniment, developed in collaboration with Hans Zimmer, accompanies the start-up and deactivation of the electric drive system.
  • Personalized charging products and services: The BMW Charging Card provides simple and convenient access to over 450,000 public charging points around the world; new Flexible Fast Charger (which allows the use of different types of sockets) and high performance Wallbox now available as options. The individual packages offer the optimal charging solution for every customer need.
  • The new digital services from BMW Connected Charging in the car and via the app promote intuitive electric mobility and improve navigation planning, including recommendations for charging stops. The navigation system takes into account breaks during the journey to charge the high-voltage battery (includes detailed information on individual charging points) in route planning and in calculating arrival times.
  • Optimized power reserve now allows vehicle charging capacity of up to 150 kW at DC fast charging stations; Charging from 0 to 80% of the high voltage battery capacity takes 34 minutes, a 10 minute charge adds 100 kilometers [62 miles] of range (WLTP). BMW iX3 customers enjoy particularly advantageous rates at IONITY fast charging stations with a consumption-dependent component.
  • The characteristic proportions of a BMW X model are combined with model-specific design features. Innovative 19-inch BMW light-alloy aerodynamic wheels with a new drag-reducing design.
  • Premium interior ambience with model-specific accents. Intellectual and multifunctional cockpit with a high level of comfort for five people during daily commutes and even long journeys; the load capacity can be extended from 510 liters to 1,560 liters.
  • Standard specifications (“Inspiring”) include metallic paintwork, LED headlights, three-zone automatic climate control with preheating and pre-conditioning, automatic tailgate operation, panoramic glass sunroof, Driving Assistant Professional and ambient lighting. The “Impressive” line of optional equipment also offers 20-inch alloy wheels, acoustic windows, sport seats, Vernasca leather trim, BMW Head-Up display, Parking Assistant Plus and Harman Kardon Surround Sound.

  • BMW Live Cockpit Professional with BMW Maps cloud-based navigation system and BMW Intelligent Personal Assistant as standard. Smartphone integration via Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, remote software update and digital services of BMW Connected Charging also standard.
  • Extraordinary environmental assessment thanks to the commitment to sustainability along the entire value chain. The CO2 contribution of the BMW iX3 over its entire life cycle is significantly lower than that of a BMW X3 xDrive20d; it is reduced by 30% when using electricity from the European energy mix for recharging and by around 60% when using only green energy.
