2020 Toyota GR Supra Performance Line Concept
Appearing at Toyota’s 2019 Specialty Equipment Market Association (SEMA) Show display, Toyota Customizing & Development (TCD) reveals its GR Supra Performance Line Concept, bringing competition-derived technology and experience to the street.
TCD specializes in the customization of both Toyota and Lexus marques, and is a recognized brand synonymous with Toyota and racing. “The GR Supra is a driver’s car so the aerodynamics should contribute to the overall balance and handling of the vehicle. The concept body parts with larger winglets increase downforce for improved high-speed driving and handling while offering a more eye-catching appearance,” said Toyota project lead, Heru Adi Nugroho.
The aerodynamics package is manufactured from carbon fiber, making it strong, lightweight and visually stunning. A lip spoiler with larger winglets adds breadth to the front bumper. The side skirts also contribute to downforce while providing a lower side profile to the chassis. The door garnishes are not only visually appealing, but also help in smoothing airflow past the door and over the rear quarter panels. Rear spats with large winglets direct air past the bumper, while the hatch spoiler increases downforce at the rear of the car.
TCD designed a set of 19-inch, forged aluminum wheels for the 2020 GR Supra. Featuring a concave, mesh-spoke design, these strong and lightweight wheels resist deflection and reduce un-sprung weight, sharpening the Supra’s handling characteristics. Michelin Pilot Sport 4 S tires provide grip for optimum traction and road holding.
The Performance Line Concept roars at wide open throttle thanks to a custom HKS exhaust system. Inside the cabin, a pair of BRIDE racing seats provide additional bolstering and support for the occupants.
