Just nine units made, making it rarer than most hypercars.
You don’t really expect to find a Dodge Viper under the skin of an Alfa Romeo—yet that’s exactly what’s happening with the 2010 Zagato Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale. And it’s weirdly wonderful.
Announced in 2011 as a follow-up to the one-off TZ3 Corsa race car, the Stradale version was meant to celebrate Alfa Romeo’s centenary. Only nine were made, and under that long clamshell hood lives a Dodge Viper ACR chassis and an 8.4-liter V10. Yeah, the same one with over 600 hp and a reputation for being borderline unhinged.
Design: A True Zagato Statement
Visually, the TZ3 Stradale doesn’t even try to disguise its Italian bloodline. The nose is loooong—like, beyond-classic-GT long. It feels like you could land a small plane on it. There’s a strong downward taper to the front, with slim headlights and a grille that dips into the bumper just enough to give it that vintage racing flavor.
From the side, it’s all curves and muscle. The fenders rise and fall with natural grace, broken only by crisp cut lines and that signature double-bubble roof—Zagato’s calling card. And then there’s the tail. A proper Kamm-back, truncated sharply, with horizontal light elements and exhausts set wide. It’s not elegant in the traditional sense, but it demands attention.
Underneath: American Thunder
Let’s talk power. The Viper’s 8.4-liter naturally aspirated V10 doesn’t whisper. It roars. Zagato didn’t mess with it much, keeping the raw edge of the original powertrain intact. That means you get brutal straight-line speed, rear-wheel drive, and a six-speed manual that needs a firm hand.
It's a curious mix—the refined bodywork of Milan paired with the feral soul of Detroit. But somehow it works. The proportions are right, the stance is low and wide, and the visual weight sits rearward, just as you'd want on a GT meant to channel the spirit of the original TZ cars from the ‘60s.
A Collector’s Delight—If You Can Find One
Nine units. That’s it. Which makes the 2010 Zagato Alfa Romeo TZ3 Stradale rarer than most modern hypercars. It was never about track dominance or breaking Nürburgring records. It was a statement—part design exercise, part homage, part muscle-flex. And it stands today as one of the strangest and most compelling collaborations between Italy and America.
In a world full of over-digitized EVs and shared platforms, the TZ3 Stradale is refreshingly unrepeatable. And that might be its greatest appeal.
