The 2027 Xpeng X9 is offered in two variants with up to 580 km of WLTP range and pricing starting from AUD $89,900 plus on-road costs.
Standard rear wheel steering, dual chamber air suspension, and an 800V platform are fitted across the range.
The seven seat cabin features Zero Gravity second-row seats, up to 2,554 litres of cargo space, and XPENG's new AI powered infotainment system.
The 2027 Xpeng X9 is making its Australian debut as the Chinese brand's flagship electric people mover. Rather than taking the traditional MPV approach, Xpeng has aimed to combine the practicality expected from a seven seat family vehicle with the driving manners and technology usually associated with a premium SUV. Australian orders are now open, with customer deliveries scheduled to begin shortly.
Available in front wheel drive Standard Range and all wheel drive Performance forms, the X9 introduces the company's first locally available three row model while also bringing several technologies that have not previously appeared on an Australian Xpeng.
A Sleek MPV With SUV Inspired Dynamics
Despite its generous dimensions, the X9 avoids the boxy appearance often associated with people movers. Xpeng refers to the shape as a "Starship" design, with a drag coefficient of just 0.236, helping improve efficiency without compromising cabin space.
Beneath the body sits an 800-volt silicon carbide platform, while every version receives Active Rear Wheel Steering and intelligent dual chamber air suspension as standard. Working alongside the company's AI chassis system, the setup is intended to make the large MPV feel easier to manoeuvre around city streets while remaining composed on the highway.
A Cabin Built Around Passenger Comfort
Inside, flexibility is one of the X9's biggest strengths.
The flat floor interior can be configured as a premium four seat lounge or a practical five, six, or seven seat family vehicle. Even with all seats occupied, the luggage compartment accommodates 721 litres, expanding to 2,554 litres once the rear seating is folded.
Passengers in the second row receive Xpeng's Zero Gravity seats with 14-way power adjustment, heating, ventilation, massage functions, and a reclined seating position designed to reduce pressure during longer journeys. Heated third row seats are also included, while a panoramic glass roof helps create a more open cabin environment.
Technology is equally prominent. A 17.3-inch central display works alongside a 21-inch head-up display, a 21.4-inch rear entertainment screen, 27-speaker XOPERA audio system, integrated refrigerator, and wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The infotainment platform is powered by Qualcomm's Snapdragon 8295 processor and supports over-the-air software updates.
Fast Charging And Strong Performance
The range opens with a 94.8 kWh LFP battery, while the AWD Performance model uses a larger 110 kWh NCM battery. The flagship version develops up to 370 kW and 640 Nm, allowing a 0–100 km/h time of 5.9 seconds and an official driving range of up to 580 km WLTP.
Charging is another headline feature. The 800V electrical architecture supports peak DC charging of up to 542 kW, allowing the battery to recharge from 10 to 80 percent in as little as 12 minutes under test conditions. Vehicle-to-Load capability is also included for powering external devices.
Technology Supports Everyday Driving
The 2027 Xpeng X9 also introduces the company's self-developed Turing AI chip to Australia. Delivering 750 TOPS of computing power, it underpins XPILOT Assist, which combines cameras, radar, and ultrasonic sensors to support adaptive cruise control, lane centering, automatic emergency braking, blind spot monitoring, and multiple automated parking functions.
With its spacious interior, rapid charging capability, and technology-rich feature list, the 2027 Xpeng X9 arrives as an alternative to conventional premium SUVs for buyers who need genuine seven seat practicality without giving up modern electric performance.
