2027 Xpeng Motors G9L

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The 2027 XPENG G9L is unveiled at the Paris Motor Show as a large premium SUV to be offered in six-seat and seven-seat configurations with a 5,120 mm length.

  • The Kunpeng Super Electric REEV features a 63 kWh battery with a petrol range extender, offering 287 km of electric range and a total of up to 1,200 km in combined WLTP range.

  • An 800V electrical architecture allows fast charging. The cabin has Nappa leather seats, massage functions, rear-wheel steering and a 26-speaker sound system.

XPENG G9L to make its world debut at Paris Motor Show

The 2027 XPENG G9L is here at the 2026 Paris Motor Show, revealing a new flagship SUV for customers who want more passenger space, but still want electric performance.

The G9L will be offered in both fully electric and range-extended electric versions. It also introduces XPENG's next-generation assisted driving technology, alongside a cabin designed to accommodate six or seven occupants.

One of the more interesting developments is the Kunpeng Super Electric REEV system, which allows the vehicle to operate using electric motors while a petrol engine generates electricity for longer journeys.

Large SUV Proportions With Rear Wheel Steering

The G9L measures 5,120 mm long, 1,998 mm wide and 1,788 mm tall, with a 3,100 mm wheelbase.

Those dimensions place it firmly in the large SUV category, with much of the available space dedicated to passenger accommodation.

XPENG has not provided detailed exterior styling descriptions in the supplied announcement.

Underneath, the chassis combines double-wishbone front suspension, an H-arm multilink rear arrangement and dual-chamber air suspension.

Continuous Damping Control adjusts the suspension response, while rear-wheel steering is intended to make the large SUV easier to manoeuvre in tighter spaces.

Three Row Interior With Massage Seating

Inside, the G9L offers six-seat and seven-seat configurations, with comfort features extending across all three rows.

The front Nappa leather seats include adaptive side bolsters, pneumatic thigh support, heating, ventilation and 16-point massage functions. The front passenger also receives a zero-gravity seat.

Second-row passengers benefit from electrically adjustable seats, heating, ventilation, memory functions and 10-point massage.

Even the third row includes electrically adjustable seating and heating.

A 26-speaker audio system, integrated refrigerator and passenger entertainment equipment complete the cabin specification.

430 kW Powertrain and Fast Charging

The Kunpeng Super Electric REEV uses a 63 kWh LFP battery and a dedicated 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol generator.

Combined electric output reaches 430 kW and 695 Nm, with acceleration from 0 to 100 km/h taking 5.4 seconds.

The REEV offers 287 km of WLTP electric range and up to 1,200 km combined.

A fully electric G9L will also be available with a 110 kWh battery, up to 430 kW and 695 Nm, and a stated WLTP range of up to 553 km.

Both architectures support rapid charging, with the EV capable of reaching 540 kW DC charging power and a 10 to 80 percent recharge in less than 12 minutes on a suitable charger.

Advanced Driver Assistance and Market Plans

The G9L introduces XPENG NGP, using second-generation VLA technology for assisted driving in urban and highway environments.

Features include navigation-based assistance, lane changes, traffic recognition and automated parking functions.

XPENG plans to introduce NGP to Australia and New Zealand during 2027.

Regional pricing and launch dates remain unconfirmed. The G9L is planned to join the G6, X9 and L03 in XPENG's Australian showrooms.
