2027 Toyota Sequoia Trailhunter Brings More Adventure
Toyota isn't changing what the Sequoia is for 2027. It's simply giving owners another way to use it.
The biggest addition is the new 2027 Toyota Sequoia Trailhunter, a factory-built package aimed at drivers who spend weekends on dirt tracks, forest trails and remote campsites rather than staying on the highway. It joins a refreshed Sequoia range that also receives updated styling, new technology and Toyota's latest active safety system.
Rather than asking buyers to start modifying a new SUV themselves, Toyota has done much of that work before it even leaves the showroom.
Built For The Trail
The Trailhunter package starts with the SR5 grade, but the hardware goes well beyond appearance upgrades.
An Old Man Emu suspension system, Michelin LTX Trail 265/70R18 tires, additional underbody protection and front recovery hooks are all included from the factory. Multi-Terrain Select, Crawl Control and a locking rear differential are also part of the package, giving the Sequoia more confidence when the pavement ends.
Toyota has also given the Trailhunter its own visual identity. Bronze-finished wheels and exclusive badging separate it from the rest of the lineup without making it look overly aggressive.
Familiar Shape, Fresh Details
The overall silhouette hasn't changed, so the Sequoia is instantly recognisable.
What has changed is the face. Toyota has redesigned the grille and bumper, giving the SUV a wider, cleaner appearance. The horizontal layout makes the front end look more planted, while rectangular fog lamps are now integrated into the bumper instead of appearing as separate elements. Some grades also receive revised chrome trim for a more restrained finish.
Trailhunter models add brighter grille-mounted LED lighting, available RIGID fog lights and exposed recovery hooks that hint at the SUV's intended environment before it even leaves the road.
Technology Moves Forward
Inside, the biggest change is impossible to miss.
Every 2027 Sequoia now comes with a standard 14-inch touchscreen, running Toyota's latest multimedia software. The system introduces a redesigned home screen, quicker "Hey Toyota" voice recognition and expanded Digital Key functionality that works with supported smartphone wallet apps. A built-in Drive Recorder Dash Cam also becomes standard equipment.
Toyota hasn't forgotten the practical side, either. A 2.4 kW inverter lets owners power camping equipment, tools or other electrical accessories directly from the SUV, making the feature just as useful at a campsite as it is on a worksite.
More Choice For Sequoia Buyers
The 2027 Toyota Sequoia Trailhunter joins SR5, Limited, Platinum, 1794 Edition, TRD Pro and Capstone, giving buyers another option within Toyota's full-size SUV family. Every model receives Toyota Safety Sense 4.0 with updated hardware and expanded driver assistance features. Pricing and full specifications have not yet been announced and will be released closer to production in fall 2026.
