2027 Toyota Prius XLE Adds Comfort and Hybrid Tech
Toyota is giving the Prius another round of updates for 2027, focusing on the features owners use every day rather than changing what already works. The 2027 Toyota Prius XLE keeps the familiar hybrid formula intact while adding more comfort, updated cabin technology and a few new choices for buyers looking beyond the entry level model.
The Prius remains available in LE, XLE, Nightshade and Limited grades. Across the range, Dual Zone HVAC is now standard, allowing the driver and front passenger to set separate temperature preferences. Toyota has also expanded the color palette with a new Inked finish joining existing shades such as Guardian Gray, Reservoir Blue and Supersonic Red.
Sleek Design Carries Over
The current Prius continues to stand apart with its low roofline, clean surfacing and coupe inspired profile. Toyota has resisted making major styling changes, instead refining the available finishes and trim choices.
For XLE buyers, the exterior is distinguished by 19 inch alloy wheels, giving the hybrid sedan a slightly more planted appearance than the LE model. The available paint selection offers everything from understated gray finishes to brighter premium colors for drivers wanting a different look.
More Comfort Inside The XLE
The biggest differences appear inside the cabin. XLE adds heated SofTex trimmed front seats with eight way power adjustment, a heated SofTex steering wheel, wireless phone charging and rain sensing windshield wipers over the standard LE specification. These upgrades are aimed at buyers who spend long hours commuting and want a little more convenience without stepping up to the Limited grade.
Technology remains familiar across the lineup. An 8 inch Toyota Audio Multimedia touchscreen comes standard on LE, XLE and Nightshade models, while the Limited receives a larger 12.3 inch display. Wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto are standard, along with over the air software updates and Connected Services.
Proven Hybrid Performance
Toyota continues to rely on its fifth generation Hybrid System, pairing a 2.0 liter four cylinder engine with electric motors and a lithium ion battery. Front wheel drive models produce 194 combined horsepower, while all wheel drive versions increase that figure to 196 horsepower through an additional rear mounted electric motor. Estimated 0 to 60 mph times range from 7.2 seconds for FWD models to 7.0 seconds with AWD.
Selectable Normal, Eco and Sport drive modes allow drivers to adjust throttle response and efficiency depending on road conditions or driving style. An EV Mode also enables short distance electric only driving at lower speeds.
Positioned As The Everyday Choice
The XLE continues to occupy the middle of the Prius lineup, balancing comfort features with hybrid efficiency. Pricing starts at $32,200 for the front wheel drive model, while the AWD version begins at $33,600, before destination charges.
