2027 Toyota Grand Highlander Woodland
By Lorenzo Bianchi October 3, 2026
Woodland Edition pairs the 245 hp 2.5 liter hybrid system with standard AWD.
All terrain tires and taller springs add 0.5 inch of ground clearance.
Practical extras include a removable cooler, 1,500W outlet and cargo dividers.
The 2027 Toyota Grand Highlander Woodland joins the three row SUV's lineup as a new hybrid grade aimed at buyers who want more capability without moving away from the Grand Highlander's family focused layout. Toyota gives it standard all terrain tires, extra ground clearance and several practical additions for carrying people and gear.
Production remains at Toyota's Princeton, Indiana plant, with 2027 Grand Highlander models expected to reach US dealerships later in 2026.
Woodland Details Toughen The Exterior
The Woodland starts from the XLE specification but is visually easy to separate. It rides on 18 inch matte black alloy wheels wrapped in all terrain tires, while taller springs and the tires combine to raise ground clearance by half an inch compared with other Grand Highlander models.
Black badges, mirror caps, roof rails, shark fin antenna and trim around the headlights and windows continue the darker treatment. Cross bars are fitted to the roof rails, with LED fog lamps, mud guards and a tow hitch also standard.
Underneath those Woodland additions is the familiar Grand Highlander shape: broad front fenders, a tapered hood and trapezoidal grille, with a flat roofline and wide set rear lamps.
Three Rows Remain The Main Attraction
The Woodland is configured for seven occupants with second row captain's chairs. Grand Highlander provides 33.5 inches of third row legroom and 37.2 inches of headroom, while maximum cargo capacity reaches 97.5 cubic feet with the rear seats folded.
Toyota says seven carry on suitcases can still fit with all three seating rows occupied. Wide rear door openings are intended to make third row access easier.
The Woodland gets black leather trimmed upholstery, all weather floor mats carrying Woodland logos and a heated steering wheel.
Cooler And Cargo Tray Add Practical Details
One of the more unusual additions sits between the second row seats. Toyota installs a removable Woodland branded console that doubles as a cooler and holds up to six 12 ounce cans.
A 120V/1,500W power outlet is provided behind the center console, while another is located in the luggage area. The rear cargo compartment also gets enhanced lighting and a Woodland branded tray with pop up dividers.
A standard 12.3 inch touchscreen supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto. The Woodland also gets dual Qi wireless charging, multiple USB-C ports and Toyota Safety Sense 3.0.
245 HP Hybrid Comes With AWD
Toyota offers the Woodland exclusively with its 2.5 liter hybrid powertrain and electronic On Demand All Wheel Drive. Total system output is 245 horsepower.
Manufacturer estimated combined fuel economy is 34 mpg, matching other AWD Grand Highlander Hybrid grades. Towing capacity is rated at 3,500 pounds.
That gives the Woodland a distinct role within the 2027 range. It retains the space and hybrid efficiency of the regular Grand Highlander while adding equipment intended for unpaved roads, outdoor trips and gear carrying rather than introducing a separate high performance powertrain.
