BAIC confirmed during an official Q&A with investors that the Stelato G9 — referred to in Chinese-market coverage under its literal translation, Enjoy G9 — is on track for a third-quarter launch. Huawei's Terminal BG chairman Yu Chengdong echoed that timing when the first official images went out, telling followers simply, "See you in the third quarter." The G9 is positioned as the brand's first rugged luxury SUV, rounding out Stelato's lineup alongside its sedans, wagons and the existing Enjoy S9 and S9T executive models.

A Boxy Shape Built for Off-Road Signaling

Stelato is describing the G9 with a line that sums up its positioning well: more rugged than luxury, and more luxurious than rugged. The exterior leans into a boxy, upright body shape carrying HarmonyOS's star-ring design language, with a continuous chrome light strip up front paired with vertical round light clusters and an illuminated starburst logo at the center. A straight roofline runs the length of the car, preserving headroom rather than tapering for a sportier silhouette.

Proportions Built Around a Long Wheelbase

Ministry of Industry and Information Technology filings put the G9 at 5,206mm long, 2,050mm wide and 1,897mm tall, riding on a 3,160mm wheelbase — figures that place it firmly in large-SUV territory. Adding the optional rear storage box extends overall length to 5,377mm. A short front overhang helps deliver a 23-degree approach angle and a 26-degree departure angle, while the factory-rated wading depth of 900mm signals genuine off-road intent rather than styling alone.

Six-Seat Cabin with Airline-Style Comfort

Buyers get a choice between a 2+3 five-seat layout or a 2+2+2 six-seat configuration, the latter fitted with independent second-row seats that include ventilation, heating, multi-level massage and electric leg rests. The trunk is described as flat and well-organized, a detail that matters given the SUV's stated appeal to campers and long-distance road-trippers as much as urban commuters.

Dual-Motor Power on an 800V Platform

Every G9 rides on an 800V high-voltage platform paired with what Stelato calls a "giant whale" battery system, and both pure-electric and range-extended versions get dual-motor all-wheel drive. The front motor makes 160 kW while the rear contributes 277 kW, for a combined 437 kW of system output. The pure-electric variant uses a 120kWh ternary lithium pack for a claimed range beyond 700 km, while the range-extended version pairs a 1.5T generator with a 75.4kWh battery for over 400 km of pure-electric range and a combined range past 1,300 km.

Built to Tow as Well as Explore

A 2,000kg towing rating puts the G9 in position to pull caravans or trailers loaded with outdoor gear, reinforcing the vehicle's dual identity as both a family hauler and an adventure vehicle. Optional gear like external storage boxes, electric running boards, roof racks and tow hooks extends that usability further without requiring aftermarket parts.

Slotting Alongside the Enjoy M9 in a Growing Lineup

Within Stelato's own range, the G9 is positioned as a companion to the existing M9, which the brand aims at family and business buyers; together, Stelato describes them as forming a "dual 9-series flagship SUV" pairing.
