2027 Skoda Slavia
By Lorenzo Bianchi August 19, 2026
The 1.0 TSI now offers a segment-first eight-speed torque-converter automatic transmission (alongside a six-speed manual), while the 1.5 TSI keeps its seven-speed DSG and adds rear disc brakes.
New comfort tech includes a segment-first Rear Seat Massage function, a 360° Area View camera, front parking sensors, a 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit, and a 10.1-inch infotainment system with an AI Companion powered by Google Cloud's Automotive AI Agent, tuned to recognize Indian English accents.
The Slavia has sold nearly 80,000 units in India since its 2022 launch and holds a five-star Global NCAP rating for both adult and child occupant protection, with over 25 active and passive safety features including six airbags standard.
A Familiar Saloon With Sharper Lighting
Skoda isn't reworking the Slavia's basic shape, but it has redone the parts that catch the eye first. New LED headlamps sit up front, and the taillamps have been redesigned with sequential rear indicators — a detail that tends to make a bigger visual difference at night than photos usually convey. New alloy wheel designs round out the exterior changes, and Skoda has refreshed the interior color schemes as well. None of this touches the Slavia's proportions; this is a mid-cycle sharpening rather than a reshape.
The Monte Carlo Trim Returns With Rally Ties
Alongside the standard range, the Monte Carlo trim is back from launch with dual-tone exterior paint, black exterior accents, and Monte Carlo badging that nods to Skoda's rally history. It's a trim aimed squarely at buyers who want the saloon's practicality without the visually plain default look — dual-tone paint jobs tend to sell on personality more than function, and Skoda is leaning into that here.
An Automatic Transmission First for the Segment
The bigger mechanical story is under the hood — or more specifically, behind it. The 1.0 TSI now pairs with an eight-speed torque-converter automatic, which Skoda is calling a segment first; a six-speed manual remains available for buyers who'd rather skip the extra cost. The 1.5 TSI sticks with its seven-speed DSG, and cars fitted with that engine now get rear disc brakes as well, a small but meaningful upgrade for stopping power on the more powerful variant.
Comfort Tech Gets a Real Push
Skoda has packed a fair amount of new equipment into the update. The Rear Seat Massage function is the headline item, again pitched as a segment first, and it's joined by a 360° Area View camera and Park Pilot with front parking sensors — both genuinely useful in the tight urban traffic conditions common across Indian cities. The 10.25-inch Digital Cockpit and 10.1-inch infotainment touchscreen support wireless Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, and the AI Companion — built on Google Cloud's Automotive AI Agent — is specifically developed to recognize Indian English accents for voice control over music, calls and climate.
Safety Numbers Worth Noting
The Slavia already carries a five-star Global NCAP rating for both adult and child occupant protection, and Skoda says more than 25 active and passive safety features are standard across the range, including six airbags. Rain-sensing wipers, automatic headlamps, and an auto-dimming rear-view mirror round out the visibility-focused equipment list — small items, but the kind that add up on longer highway stretches or in monsoon conditions.
Where It Sits in Skoda's India Push
The Slavia is one of three "made in India, for India" models alongside the Kylaq and Kushaq SUVs, built on the locally developed MQB-A0-IN platform. It's also exported to Vietnam, the Middle East and Africa. With nearly 80,000 units sold domestically since its 2022 debut, Skoda is positioning the updated car to keep pace against segment rivals in the compact saloon space.
