2027 Renault Niagara

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Niagara measures up to 4.94 metres long and combines an upright pick up stance with 17 or 18 inch wheels and up to 233 mm of ground clearance.

  • Its 1.3 litre turbo engine produces up to 160 hp and 270 Nm, with manual or six speed dual clutch transmissions and available 4x4 drive.

  • The 938 litre cargo bed carries up to 654 kg, while the cabin adds dual digital screens, OpenR Link and Google Gemini.

The 2027 Renault Niagara moves Renault deeper into Latin America's pick up market, but it is not being pitched purely as a work vehicle. Developed on the RGMP pick up platform, Niagara mixes the load carrying hardware expected of the segment with the comfort and connected features normally associated with a C segment SUV.

Brazil, Argentina and Colombia are its main target markets. Production takes place at Renault's Santa Isabel plant in Córdoba, Argentina, following development work carried out across the region.

Upright Nose Meets Integrated Pick Up Body

Niagara has a high bonnet and upright black grille, with RENAULT lettering finished in pixelated chrome. Full LED headlights sit in gloss black surrounds, while separate daytime running lights establish the front lighting signature. Lower down, Alliance Black protection and a skid plate give the bumper a more functional appearance.

The 4x4 measures 4.94 metres long and 1.72 metres tall, while the 4x2 is slightly shorter at 4.91 metres. Pronounced shoulders, strong wheel arches and 17 or 18 inch wheels fill out the profile.

Renault has paid particular attention to visually connecting the passenger cab and cargo bed. Rear door handles are hidden in the pillars, while the tailgate carries stamped Niagara lettering and a black cross strip linking the rear lamps.

SUV Style Cabin Gets Google Gemini

Inside, a horizontal dashboard carries a 10.1 inch multimedia display alongside a 10.2 inch digital instrument panel. An electronic gear selector frees up console space, and wireless smartphone charging is available.

OpenR Link with Google built in brings Google Maps, Google Play and voice functions, with Google Gemini also integrated. Rear passengers get 200 mm of knee room, while the rear bench can recline by 25 degrees. A useful 36 litre hidden storage compartment sits behind it.

Turbo Power With Available 4x4 Drive

A 1.3 litre turbocharged direct injection engine runs on petrol or Flex Fuel depending on market. Output is 156 hp in 4x2 models and 160 hp in the 4x4, with both producing 270 Nm. Buyers can choose a six speed manual or wet six speed dual clutch automatic.

Available all wheel drive normally sends power to the front wheels, transferring torque rearward as grip demands. In tougher conditions, distribution can reach an even 50:50 split. Ground clearance is 233 mm for the 4x4 and 223 mm for the two wheel drive model.

Cargo Bed Keeps Niagara Useful

The bed provides 938 litres of volume and carries up to 654 kg. It includes eight lashing points, a 12V outlet and a protective coating, while a sliding roll up cover shields cargo. The electric tailgate measures 1,030 mm wide and 615 mm tall. Renault quotes towing capacity at 710 kg.

That combination places Niagara between traditional work focused pick ups and increasingly lifestyle oriented alternatives. It is also the first model in Renault's futuREady production offensive, with 14 new international models planned outside Europe by 2030.
