2027 Porsche Cayenne Electric

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Cayenne Electric becomes the most powerful production Porsche ever.

  • The new 113 kWh battery has a 642 km WLTP range and can be charged at up to 400 kW.

  • Highlights include a fully digital cabin, new aerodynamics, and sophisticated chassis technology.

Aerodynamics and Proportion Determine Design Direction

Although the 2027 Porsche Cayenne Electric has a recognizable silhouette, its surfaces and details clearly indicate a move into Porsche's next era. The nose sits low, framed by slim Matrix LED headlights shaped into a single module, widening the front visually. Strongly contoured wings mark out the classic Porsche stance, while the flyline continues with the gentle slope that has defined three generations of Cayenne. In profile, frameless doors and sculpted side skirts sharpen the SUV’s proportions. The Turbo variant brings high-gloss black and model-specific trim for a more assertive look.

At the rear, the 3D light strip and illuminated Porsche script form the visual anchor. Animated graphics, Turbonite accents, and aeroblades on the Turbo give the electric Cayenne a technical finish that fits its performance brief. With a 0.25 drag coefficient, it stands among the most aerodynamic SUVs available. Active cooling flaps, a roof spoiler, and the Turbo’s deployable aeroblades dynamically adjust depending on speed and driving demand.

Performance Figures that Reset the Segment

The Cayenne Electric lineup begins with two models: Cayenne Electric and Cayenne Turbo Electric. Both use all-wheel drive with electronic Porsche Traction Management. The Turbo headlines with up to 850 kW (1,156 PS) and 1,500 Nm when Launch Control is engaged, translating to 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds and 0-200 km/h in 7.4 seconds. Top speed is 260 km/h. A newly developed rear-axle motor with direct oil cooling ensures consistent performance. A Push-to-Pass function adds 130 kW for short bursts. The entry model produces 300 kW (408 PS), or 325 kW with Launch Control, reaching 100 km/h in 4.8 seconds.

Recuperation capability reaches up to 600 kW—near Formula E levels—allowing most everyday braking to be handled electrically. Adaptive air suspension and Porsche Active Suspension Management are standard. The Turbo gains Porsche Torque Vectoring Plus, while rear-axle steering and the new Porsche Active Ride system are optional.

Charging, Range, and High-Voltage Engineering

A new 113 kWh battery with double-sided cooling delivers up to 642 km WLTP range on the base model and 623 km on the Turbo. Charging power reaches 390 kW, and under optimal conditions briefly peaks around 400 kW. A 10–80% charge can be achieved in under 16 minutes. Within 10 minutes, the Cayenne can recover up to 325 km of range. Inductive charging at up to 11 kW is available for the first time in a Porsche.

Expanded Utility and a Reworked Cabin

Length grows by 55 mm with a wheelbase stretch of nearly 13 cm, improving rear legroom and cargo flexibility. Luggage capacity ranges from 781 to 1,588 litres, plus a 90-litre front trunk. A maximum towing capacity of 3.5 tonnes remains available.

The cabin introduces the new Porsche Driver Experience with a sweeping OLED Flow Display, a 14.25-inch digital cluster, and an optional passenger screen. New features such as Mood Modes, panel heating, expanded ambient lighting, and a panoramic roof with variable light control reinforce the SUV’s premium positioning.
