2027 Nissan Murano Dark Armor

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Dark Armor is priced at $46,990 MSRP, slotting between the SL ($43,990) and Platinum ($49,790) in a streamlined three-grade Murano lineup.

  • The grade wears gloss black 21-inch wheels, sporty bumpers, lower side molding and gloss black badging, paired exclusively with Graphite interior upholstery.

  • Murano's tech list includes ProPILOT Assist 2.1 for hands-off freeway driving and Google built-in with Maps, Play Store and Assistant on a 12.3-inch display.

A Darker Middle Ground

Nissan is filling out the 2027 Murano lineup with a new Dark Armor grade, and the pitch is straightforward: take the crossover's existing shape and dress it in gloss black. It lands between SL and Platinum, giving Nissan a middle option that leans harder into styling than either bookend trim. The Murano starts at $43,990 for SL, climbs to $46,990 for Dark Armor, and tops out at $49,790 for Platinum, with a $1,545 destination charge on top of each.

Gloss Black, Applied With Intent

Dark Armor's changes are concentrated at the surface, and Nissan isn't hiding that. Gloss black 21-inch wheels anchor the corners, while sportier bumpers and lower side molding pick up the same finish. Gloss black Nissan badges replace the usual chrome, and Dark Armor badging appears on the front door panels to mark the grade apart from SL and Platinum. Buyers get six exterior colors to choose from — Gun Metallic, Super Black, Scarlet Ember, Everest White, and two-tone options pairing Boulder Gray or Everest White with a Super Black roof.

One Interior Choice, Kept Consistent

Unlike SL and Platinum, which offer more than one interior treatment, Dark Armor comes exclusively with Graphite upholstery. That's a deliberate narrowing rather than an oversight — it keeps the cabin's tone consistent with the exterior's darker theme rather than mixing a black-trimmed body with a lighter cabin.

Tech Carries Across the Lineup

The Murano's available technology doesn't change by grade in ways the release specifies, and it's a substantial list regardless. ProPILOT Assist 2.1 allows hands-off driving in a single freeway lane, provided the driver stays attentive and ready to retake control. Google built-in puts Google Maps, the Play Store and Google Assistant on the vehicle's 12.3-inch display, and massaging front seats are available alongside a 3D Enhanced Intelligent Around View Monitor with full rotation, Front Wide View and Invisible Hood View for tighter parking situations.

Built in Tennessee, With Some Recognition Behind It

Murano is assembled at Nissan's Smyrna, Tennessee plant using U.S. and imported parts, and the model isn't arriving without accolades — it was named Best Midsize 2-Row SUV for the Money in U.S. News & World Report's 2026 Best Cars for the Money awards and earned a 2026 IIHS Top Safety Pick+ rating.

Where Dark Armor Fits

By offering Dark Armor as a distinct grade rather than an appearance package layered onto SL, Nissan is treating the blacked-out look as a genuine trim decision, not an add-on. For shoppers cross-referencing midsize two-row crossovers, it gives the Murano a visually distinct middle option without pushing buyers straight to Platinum pricing.
