2027 Nissan Frontier Sport Edition

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Nissan introduces a new Frontier Sport Edition package for the SV grade.

  • The package adds all-terrain tires, skid plates, LED lighting, and blacked-out styling details.

  • Every 2027 Frontier continues with a standard 310-hp 3.8-liter V6 and up to 7,150 pounds of towing capacity.

Nissan Expands The Frontier Lineup Again

The 2027 Nissan Frontier lineup is growing once more, though this latest addition is aimed less at hardcore off-roaders and more at buyers who want the rugged look without necessarily stepping all the way into PRO-4X territory.

That is where the new Frontier Sport Edition fits in.

Available on the SV grade in both 4x2 and 4x4 configurations, the package borrows heavily from the styling and personality of the PRO-X and PRO-4X models while keeping the truck positioned lower in the lineup. Nissan describes it as a bridge between the regular SV and the more dedicated off-road trims.

Visually, the formula works surprisingly well.

The standard Frontier already carries fairly upright and muscular proportions, but the Sport Edition sharpens the look with black exterior details, chunkier tires, and subtle yellow accents that give the midsize pickup a more athletic personality without becoming overly aggressive.

The Sport Edition Looks More Purposeful

Most of the visual changes center around the lower half of the truck.

The Sport Edition receives black 17-inch off-road-style wheels wrapped in 265/70R17 Hankook Dynapro all-terrain tires. The added sidewall height noticeably changes the stance compared to standard SV models, giving the truck a more planted and trail-ready appearance.

Nissan also fits an aluminum skid plate, LED fog lamps, and front accent lighting as part of the package. Black mirror caps, grille trim, and a darker lower front fascia continue the tougher visual theme.

The yellow accents stand out most inside the cabin.

Rather than introducing flashy graphics or oversized logos, Nissan uses contrast yellow stitching across the black upholstery to separate the Sport Edition from the rest of the lineup. It is a small detail, though it helps the truck feel a little less utilitarian.

There is also a new Alpine Metallic paint option for 2027, joining colors such as Afterburn Orange, Tactical Green Metallic, and Red Alert.

The Mechanical Formula Stays Familiar

Under the hood, nothing changes dramatically.

Every 2027 Frontier continues using Nissan’s naturally aspirated 3.8-liter V6 producing 310 horsepower and 281 lb-ft of torque. The engine remains paired with a nine-speed automatic transmission.

Maximum towing capacity still reaches 7,150 pounds when properly equipped.

Nissan clearly understands that many midsize truck buyers prioritize dependability and familiarity over complicated electrified powertrains. The Frontier continues leaning into that traditional approach.

The Sport Edition also expands availability of all-terrain tires beyond the PRO models, something Nissan says customers had been requesting directly. For drivers who occasionally venture onto light trails or dirt access roads, that may honestly matter more than additional horsepower.

Technology And Practical Features Continue To Improve

The Frontier’s cabin remains relatively straightforward compared to some newer rivals, though Nissan has quietly updated several convenience features.

An available 12.3-inch infotainment display supports wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto connectivity, while the upgraded Qi2-compatible wireless charger now uses magnetic positioning and active cooling for more consistent charging performance.

Safety technology also remains comprehensive.

Lane Departure Warning, Blind Spot Warning, Rear Cross Traffic Alert, Intelligent Cruise Control, and Rear Parking Sensors are all standard across the lineup.

The 2027 Frontier Sport does not reinvent Nissan’s midsize pickup. It simply adds another variation aimed at buyers who want rugged styling, practical off-road upgrades, and a more adventurous look straight from the factory floor.
