The refreshed Fairlady Z NISMO went on sale in Japan on August 27, 2026, priced at 9,752,600 yen and requiring a mandatory special exterior color for at least 49,500 yen more.
Nissan added a short-throw six-speed manual transmission to the NISMO lineup, with throttle and ignition mapping tuned specifically for that gearbox.
The chassis update brings two-piece drilled front rotors previously used on the Nissan GT-R, bright red brake calipers, and a NISMO-exclusive Traction mode within Vehicle Dynamics Control.
Exterior Design Observations
The Fairlady Z NISMO carries over the front-end refresh Nissan applied across the lineup: the front Z emblem is back on the nose, a badge that ran from the S30 in 1969 through the Z32 in 1989, mounted on a redesigned front bumper with an extended tip [Unverified: the release doesn't confirm whether the NISMO grade uses the identical bumper and wheel hardware detailed for the standard model, or a NISMO-specific version]. Vehicle Proportions and Stance
Nissan describes the front bumper work as pushing the nose out further, reinforcing the long-hood, short-deck proportion the Z has carried since the S30 and giving the car a lower, wider stance up front.
Interior Space and Technology
Inside, the NISMO gets combination seats trimmed in leather and Alcantara, a step up from the cloth or standard trim on lower grades. Like the rest of the lineup, it also picks up the redesigned 12.3-inch digital meter, which now opens with an animation cycling through silhouettes of every Z generation, S30 through RZ34, and a Qi2-compatible wireless charging pad with magnets and an integrated cooling fan to keep phones charging steadily over rough pavement.
Powertrain and Performance
The headline change is mechanical. Nissan added a short-throw six-speed manual to the NISMO after what it describes as strong customer demand, and tuned throttle response and ignition timing specifically around that gearbox for a more direct feel from the pedal. Two drive modes, Standard and Sport, each carry their own acceleration sound tuning, with Sport sharpening throttle response at higher engine speeds and Standard keeping things quieter for daily driving. The Vehicle Dynamics Control system now includes a NISMO-only Traction mode, and the front brakes use two-piece drilled rotors borrowed from the Nissan GT-R for better heat dissipation and less unsprung weight, paired with a suspension tune and a low-friction steering rack Nissan says sharpen turn-in and cornering precision.
Practical Usability Features
Beyond the wireless charging setup, Nissan added a chamber inside the fuel tank to keep fuel delivery steady during hard cornering, and equipped the NISMO with an emergency braking system that meets requirements for detecting bicycles.
Market Positioning
At 9,752,600 yen before the mandatory special-color surcharge, the NISMO sits well above the standard Fairlady Z's 5,737,600 yen starting price, positioning it as the performance-focused flagship of the lineup.
