Revised suspension with predictive damping and improved comfort.
A familiar GLE, just tightened up
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLE W167 doesn’t try to reset the formula. It refines it in small but noticeable ways.
The overall shape stays the same. You still get that balanced, slightly upright SUV profile that has defined the GLE for years. What’s changed sits mostly at the front. The grille is larger, framed in chrome, and in some versions it lights up. The headlamps now carry a horizontal star motif, which becomes more obvious at night than during the day.
At the rear, things are quieter. The taillights pick up a three-dimensional star pattern, tied together by a trim strip across the tailgate. It’s not a dramatic shift, but it cleans up the look.
Proportions stay the same, stance feels calmer
There’s no change in how the GLE is laid out. Long wheelbase, short overhangs, and a size that sits right in the middle of the segment.
What does change slightly is how it sits. New wheel options and suspension tweaks give it a more settled appearance. Not lower, not more aggressive. Just a bit more composed when you see it from the side.
It still leans toward being a do-it-all SUV rather than something that’s focused in one direction.
Interior shifts toward a single digital surface
Inside is where the update feels more obvious.
The dashboard is now dominated by the MBUX Superscreen, a wide glass panel that stretches across and houses three displays. It changes the way the cabin is perceived. Less separation between screens, more of a continuous surface.
Behind it runs the new MB.OS system. It acts as a central brain for the car, tying together navigation, media, and vehicle settings. It also supports over-the-air updates, so the system can change over time rather than staying fixed.
Material choices haven’t been left alone either. New trim finishes and colors, including warmer tones, give the interior a slightly different atmosphere.
Engines refined rather than replaced
The engine lineup stays familiar, but it’s been worked on.
Petrol and diesel options continue, now supported by a 48-volt system. That adds small boosts where needed, smooths out transitions, and allows functions like coasting and energy recovery.
The plug-in hybrid version gets a more noticeable update, with an electric range that can reach around 106 kilometers in WLTP conditions. That changes how it can be used day to day, especially in urban settings.
Suspension works more in the background
Mercedes has spent time on how the GLE rides, and it shows up in the details.
The new cloud-based damper system adjusts the suspension before the car even reaches certain bumps, using data shared between vehicles. It works alongside AIRMATIC and E-ACTIVE BODY CONTROL, both of which adapt continuously while driving.
You don’t really notice the system working. That’s kind of the point.
Still built around everyday use
Practicality hasn’t changed.
The GLE still offers up to 2,055 liters of cargo space with the rear seats folded, and there’s an optional third row if needed. Towing capacity remains at up to 3.5 tonnes, which keeps it usable for more demanding tasks.
There are smaller updates too. Improved air filtration, updated assistance systems, and more connected features, all aimed at making daily use a bit easier.
A steady update rather than a shift
The 2027 Mercedes-Benz GLE W167 doesn’t try to reposition itself.
It stays where it already works. Comfortable, capable, and now more connected than before.
The changes are incremental. But taken together, they add up to something that feels more complete than before.
