At the center of the update is a comprehensively revised 3.0-liter inline-six engine featuring both an exhaust gas turbocharger and an electrically assisted compressor.

Output stands at 330 kW (449 PS), with 600 Nm available across a broad rev range. For brief bursts, Overboost increases torque to 640 Nm for up to ten seconds at 5,200 rpm. The engine benefits from a new cylinder head, revised intake system, larger intercooler, and optimized boost pressure of 1.5 bar, all aimed at improving throttle response and extending the torque plateau.

Short bursts of electric assistance, recuperation, coasting, and nearly undetectable restarts are made possible by the 17 kW and 205 Nm of additional support provided by a second-generation integrated starter generator running on a 48-volt system.

Dynamics of the All-Wheel Drive and Transmission

The AMG SPEEDSHIFT TCT 9G transmission, which is designed for quick shift times and quick multi-gear downshifts, channels power. Through shift paddles mounted on the steering wheel, the system responds especially quickly in Sport+ and manual modes.

Standard AMG Performance 4MATIC+ all-wheel drive distributes torque fully variably between the axles. Under moderate conditions, the front axle can decouple entirely to enhance efficiency. In Sport and higher settings, the balance shifts rearward. The AMG RIDE CONTROL suspension has three modes of operation: Comfort, Sport, and Sport+. It combines steel springs and adaptive damping. The system expands the range between compliant cruising and firm, performance-oriented control by independently adjusting the compression and rebound forces at each wheel.

Rear axle steering is standard, with up to 2.5 degrees of counter-phase movement at lower speeds for improved agility and reduced turning circle. At speeds above 100 km/h, the rear wheels steer in phase with the front wheels, increasing directional stability.

Braking hardware includes 390 x 36 mm ventilated front discs with four-piston fixed calipers and 360 x 26 mm ventilated rear discs, appropriately sized for the coupe’s performance envelope.

With RACE START activated, the GLC 53 4Matic Coupe accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 4.2 seconds. Top speed is electronically limited to 250 km/h, or 270 km/h with the optional AMG Driver’s Package.

Combined fuel consumption for the Coupe is rated between 9.7 and 9.2 l/100 km (WLTP), with CO₂ emissions ranging from 220 to 209 g/km.

Visually, the Coupe maintains AMG’s assertive proportions, now complemented by optional packages such as Golden Accents, which introduce Techgold exterior details, 21-inch forged wheels, and distinctive interior stitching. The result is not merely cosmetic.
