A Concept, Not Yet a Finished Production Car

Proportions Borrowed From a 1960s Racer
The exterior leans hard on the stance of the M6A Can-Am racer that underpinned the original M6GT. McLaren describes the car sitting exceptionally low and wide, with a low nose and body surfacing that flows without interruption into a Kammback tail. The roof, rear deck, and engine cover read as one continuous shape rather than separate panels, and the cabin appears set into the body instead of sitting on top of it — a detail meant to echo the low-drag thinking of 1960s sports prototypes.
Heritage Details Worked Into the Design
McLaren has packed the exterior with references back to the original car. A 'Racing Loop' motif pulled from the M6GT's original taillights is built into the airflow architecture around the body, and Bruce McLaren's original number plate reappears as a tone-on-tone graphic. His signature is placed in the engine bay, and the Speedy Kiwi — McLaren's first-ever logo — is etched into the fuel filler cap.
A Cabin Built Around Tactile Controls
Inside, McLaren emphasizes physical, mechanical interaction over screen-heavy design. Knurled machined aluminium controls and a gearstick tuned for feel and throw sit alongside new digital instrumentation, with a three-dimensional Speedy Kiwi worked into the shifter itself. Boxed quilting and exposed gloss carbon fibre carry the heritage theme into the cabin, though McLaren hasn't detailed seat count, cargo space, or infotainment specifics here.
Manual Gearbox Headlines the Powertrain Story
The mechanical news is the return of a genuine manual transmission, something McLaren hasn't offered since the F1 in 1992, paired here with V8 combustion power sending drive to the rear wheels. McLaren doesn't publish horsepower, torque, weight, or performance figures for McL 6GT in this release, so its output relative to McLaren's existing supercar range is not yet confirmed.
