A new electric pillar for Mazda
Unveiled at the Brussels Motor Show, the 2027 Mazda CX-6e represents a clear next step in Mazda’s European electric strategy. Set to arrive in the UK in late 2026 following a broader European launch this summer, the CX-6e joins the Mazda6e as part of the brand’s expanding battery-electric lineup. Positioned as a mid-sized SUV, it is intended to combine long-range capability with a familiar Mazda emphasis on balance and driver engagement.
Exterior proportions and Kodo evolution
The CX-6e advances Mazda’s Kodo design language into a more restrained, electric-focused form. Its extended 2,902 mm wheelbase and short overhangs give the car a planted stance, with surfaces kept clean and continuous rather than aggressively detailed. The profile reads long and low for an SUV, disguising its interior volume while maintaining visual tension across the flanks.
Mazda describes the design theme as “Soulful Futuristic Modern,” but the execution is notably calm. A new Nightfall Violet paint finish, shifting between deep purple and near-black depending on light, highlights the sculpted bodywork without relying on contrast-heavy trim.
Electric performance and driving character
Under the bodywork, the 2027 Mazda CX-6e uses a 78 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery powering a rear-mounted electric motor. Output is rated at 258 PS with 290 Nm of torque delivered to the rear wheels. Mazda quotes a 0–62 mph time of 7.9 seconds and a top speed of 115 mph, figures that suggest measured performance rather than outright aggression.
Range is quoted at up to 300 miles WLTP, supported by DC fast charging at up to 195 kW, enabling a 10–80 percent charge in 24 minutes under optimal conditions. An 11 kW three-phase onboard charger supports home and workplace charging, reinforcing the CX-6e’s everyday focus.
Interior layout and technology focus
Inside, the CX-6e moves decisively toward a screen-led interface without abandoning physical clarity. The dashboard is dominated by a large 26-inch touchscreen that is divided to minimize driver distraction and display passenger information. With gesture control and multilingual voice recognition for routine activities, a head-up display projected navigation cues straight into the driver's field of vision.
The Japanese notion of Ma is reflected in cabin design, which prioritizes tranquility and spaciousness over decoration. There are three interior color themes available, and the materials are made to strike a balance between visual warmth and durability. With the back seats folding, the 468-liter luggage capacity increases to 1,434 liters.
