2027 Land Rover Defender 130 Vertex

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Defender Vertex introduces a bold new design with an exclusive Extended Exterior Pack.

  • Defender 130 gains enhanced cabin comfort with four-zone climate control and premium materials.

  • Updated engines, new accessories and expanded personalization broaden the Defender range.

A New Chapter for the Largest Defender

The 2027 Land Rover Defender 130 Vertex arrives with a clear goal. It isn't about changing the Defender into something different. Instead, it gives buyers another interpretation of an SUV that's already comfortable switching between family duties, long-distance touring and demanding off-road trails.

Vertex joins the Defender lineup as a premium-focused specification, adding fresh design details and more opportunities for customization without altering the vehicle's core character. The wider 2027 update also introduces new accessories, additional paint choices and revised powertrains across the range.

Tough Looks with a Cleaner Finish

From a distance, the Defender 130 still looks unmistakably familiar. Up close, though, Vertex has its own identity.

The front receives extended bumpers, a larger grille and updated fog lamps, all finished in Shadow Atlas Matte. Around the back, a Gloss Black spoiler and body-coloured spare wheel cover create a cleaner appearance, while yellow brake calipers and matching recovery eyes provide subtle highlights that stand out without becoming flashy.

The body-coloured lower cladding visually stretches the SUV's profile, making the long-wheelbase Defender appear even more planted. Standard 22-inch Diamond Turned Satin Dark Grey wheels complete the package, with several alternative wheel finishes available for buyers who want a different look.

Land Rover has also expanded the colour palette. New Namib Orange joins the range, while Patagonia White Matte Wrap is now offered with an optional self-healing Gloss Protective Film designed to reduce the appearance of light scratches over time.

Built Around Comfort

Inside, the Defender 130 Vertex focuses on comfort without losing its practical edge.

Buyers can choose from Windsor Leather, Forged Textile or Ultrafabrics upholstery in several colour combinations. Unlike the smaller Defender models, the 130 comes standard with four-zone climate control, giving passengers in every row more control over cabin comfort. Cabin Air Purification Plus and a domestic power socket are also included.

The result is an interior that feels well suited to long road trips, whether it's carrying a full family or heading out on a weekend adventure with plenty of luggage.

More Ways to Explore

Land Rover has also expanded the factory accessory catalogue.

Owners can now add an Expedition Roof Light capable of producing up to 9,000 lumens, a lockable Tail Door Gear Carrier offering 60 litres of storage, and several exterior packs tailored to different lifestyles. Explorer, Adventure and Urban Packs each focus on a different type of use, from overlanding to everyday city driving.

The updated infotainment system also introduces AI-powered conversational voice control, allowing drivers to interact with vehicle functions using more natural speech through the "Hey Land Rover" command.

Updated Power for Every Journey

The 2027 Defender lineup receives revised engines, including a new 3.0-litre six-cylinder P380 mild-hybrid petrol unit producing 550 Nm of torque, alongside a new P300 six-cylinder in selected markets. Defender OCTA also benefits from an updated twin-turbo V8 that develops 540 PS while delivering a deeper and more distinctive exhaust note.

Rather than rewriting the Defender story, the Vertex simply gives buyers another option. For those wanting extra presence, greater personalization and the practicality of the Defender 130, it feels like a natural addition to the family.
