A New Look Without Changing the Formula
The 2027 Land Rover Defender 110 Vertex doesn't try to reinvent one of the industry's best-known off-road SUVs. Instead, it builds on what owners already appreciate while giving the Defender a more polished and contemporary personality.
Vertex arrives as a new member of the Defender family, sitting alongside the X specification. The idea isn't to make the SUV softer or less capable. It's about offering buyers another flavor of Defender—one that feels equally at home outside a hotel as it does at the end of a muddy trail.
Familiar Shape, Sharper Details
At first glance, the changes seem subtle. Spend a little more time around the vehicle and the differences begin to stand out.
The front end gains larger bumpers, a revised grille and updated fog lamps, giving the Defender a wider, more confident face. Shadow Atlas Matte trim adds contrast, while yellow brake calipers and matching recovery eyes inject just enough color to keep things interesting without feeling overdone.
Body-colored lower cladding stretches the profile visually, making the SUV appear longer and lower than before. Standard 22-inch Diamond Turned wheels complete the package, although buyers can still choose alternative wheel designs depending on whether they spend more time on highways or rough tracks.
Land Rover has also widened the paint palette. New Namib Orange joins the lineup, while Patagonia White Matte Wrap is now offered with a self-healing gloss protective film that helps resist everyday scratches and stone chips.
Everyday Comfort Gets More Attention
The cabin hasn't been redesigned from scratch, but the updates make it easier to tailor the Defender to different lifestyles.
New upholstery choices include Windsor Leather, Forged Textile and Ultrafabrics, each offering a different feel without losing the model's rugged character. Climate control, cabin air purification and a household power socket remain part of the standard equipment on the Defender 110 Vertex.
One of the biggest additions is the new six-seat layout for the Defender 110. Replacing the traditional bench with second-row Captain Chairs creates a noticeably more comfortable space, improves access to the third row and leaves useful storage between the seats. It's a practical change that families are likely to appreciate just as much as adventure travelers.
Ready for Weekdays and Weekends
Land Rover has expanded the factory accessories as well. Buyers can add an Expedition Roof Light capable of producing up to 9,000 lumens, a lockable Tail Door Gear Carrier and several exterior packs designed for different lifestyles, whether that's overlanding, weekend camping or everyday city use.
The SUV also benefits from a more natural AI-powered voice assistant, allowing drivers to interact with vehicle functions using conversational speech instead of rigid commands.
More Choice Under the Hood
The 2027 update also brings revised engines. A new 3.0-litre six-cylinder P380 mild-hybrid petrol engine joins the range alongside an updated P300 six-cylinder in selected markets. Defender OCTA continues at the top of the lineup with its twin-turbo V8, now producing a deeper, richer exhaust note while maintaining its strong performance credentials.
Rather than changing what the Defender stands for, Vertex simply broadens the lineup. It gives buyers another way to experience a vehicle that's just as comfortable crossing mountain trails as it is pulling up outside a city restaurant.
