2027 Jeep Wrangler JL-2A
By Lorenzo Bianchi September 14, 2026
The Wrangler JL 2A is the 11th release in Jeep's Twelve 4 Twelve series and is based on the Wrangler Rubicon.
Exclusive 17 inch Joose wheels, 33 inch BFGoodrich KO2 tires and orange tow hooks reference the original CJ 2A.
A new Heritage Tan and Bison Brown Nappa interior introduces CJ 2A inspired details to the modern Wrangler.
The 2027 Jeep Wrangler JL 2A reaches further into Jeep history than most appearance packages. Based on the Wrangler Rubicon, the special edition looks back to the Willys CJ 2A introduced in 1945, the first Jeep vehicle developed specifically for civilian use.
It is also the 11th entry in Jeep's yearlong Twelve 4 Twelve series. Rather than changing the Wrangler's familiar shape, Jeep has concentrated on colors, wheels and smaller details that connect the current JL generation with its postwar ancestor.
CJ 2A Colors Return to the Wrangler
Gobi leads the exterior palette on the two door JL 2A and takes inspiration from the Harvest Tan used on the original. Four door models are shown with the '41 color, while Bright White, Sting Gray, Ghost and Joose are also available.
Body color fender flares and a three piece hardtop keep the exterior relatively simple. Dark Metallic Grey accents appear within the seven slot grille, while orange tow hooks provide a much stronger contrast at both ends.
Joose Wheels Reference the 1945 Original
Perhaps the clearest historical reference sits at each corner. Exclusive 17 inch retro wheels are finished in Joose, echoing the Sunset Red wheels offered on the CJ 2A. They are paired with standard 33 inch BFGoodrich KO2 All Terrain tires.
That combination gives the JL 2A a deliberately old fashioned color contrast without replacing the Rubicon platform underneath. Jeep confirms Trail Rated capability but does not provide separate engine, transmission or performance figures for the special edition in the supplied release.
Heritage Tan Changes the Wrangler Cabin
The interior gets more than a badge treatment. Nappa Heritage Tan leather covers the seats, joined by a matching Nappa PUR instrument panel mid bolster. Bison Brown appears across the door panels, lower dashboard and center console, with Desert Orange stitching visually connecting the cabin to the exterior wheels.
Smaller historical references include a Willys Overland satin chrome shifter medallion and heritage inspired HVAC vent graphics. A plaque on the rear swing gate recreates artwork from the original CJ 2A dashboard data plate.
Rubicon Hardware Meets Everyday Equipment
Practical equipment includes the Convenience Group with remote start, an auto dimming rearview mirror and universal garage door opener. A front TrailCam with an integrated washer is also standard.
Orders open in October. The JL 2A package carries an MSRP of $4,995, which Jeep says is $115 more than a similarly equipped Wrangler Rubicon.
