2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland
By Lorenzo Bianchi June 16, 2026
Overland returns as Jeep's premium off-road oriented Grand Cherokee model.
Standard Quadra-Lift air suspension and Quadra-Trac II 4x4 system enhance capability.
Nappa leather seating, 21-inch wheels, and a 360-degree camera elevate refinement.
The Return of a Familiar Name
Some trim levels come and go without much attention. The Overland has never really been one of them.
For many Jeep buyers, the Grand Cherokee Overland has long occupied a sweet spot in the lineup. It offered more luxury than the mainstream models without drifting too far from the off-road character that helped define the Grand Cherokee in the first place. For 2027, Jeep is bringing that formula back.
The refreshed 2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland arrives alongside the returning Trailhawk, but its mission is slightly different. Where Trailhawk leans heavily into extreme terrain, Overland focuses on balancing everyday comfort with genuine off-road capability.
A More Premium Look Without Losing Character
At first glance, the changes are subtle. Spend a few minutes around the vehicle, though, and the details begin to stand out.
The Overland receives a unique front-end treatment designed to separate it from other Grand Cherokee models. Bright tow hooks remain visible, a reminder that this isn't simply an appearance package. Painted black lower bodywork creates contrast against the body color, while Silver Silk exterior accents add a more upscale feel.
The wheel design also helps define the model's personality. Large 21-inch machine-faced wheels with mid-gloss Granite Crystal pockets fill the arches and give the SUV a planted stance. A body-color roof contributes to a cleaner, more cohesive profile.
It's still unmistakably a Grand Cherokee, but one aimed at buyers who want a little more polish without giving up utility.
Cabin Comfort Takes Priority
The biggest differences appear once inside.
Nappa leather upholstery comes standard, and Jeep has added prominent "Overland" embossing on the front seatbacks. The interior feels intentionally warm rather than overly technical. Designers introduced a unique An-Teak Satin Chrome finish combined with Liquid Chrome detailing, creating visual contrast throughout the cabin.
Comfort is clearly part of the brief. Front occupants receive heated and ventilated seats, while rear passengers benefit from standard heated seating as well. These are the kinds of features owners tend to appreciate during daily use rather than during a quick showroom visit.
The latest Grand Cherokee technology remains in place, giving the Overland access to the refreshed infotainment system and digital features introduced across the lineup.
Capability Still Matters
Despite the premium focus, Jeep hasn't stripped away the hardware that built the Overland reputation.
The SUV comes equipped with the Quadra-Trac II four-wheel-drive system and a two-speed transfer case. A class-exclusive Quadra-Lift air suspension remains standard, working alongside Semi-Active Damping and Hill Descent Control to improve confidence when conditions become more challenging.
A standard 360-degree surround-view camera with washer helps drivers navigate both tight city spaces and narrow trails. Like the Trailhawk, the Overland also includes Jeep's Off-Road Pages, allowing drivers to monitor vehicle systems and terrain-related information in real time.
A Distinct Place in the Grand Cherokee Lineup
The 2027 Jeep Grand Cherokee Overland occupies a space that few SUVs attempt to fill.
Many competitors focus heavily on luxury or capability. The Overland continues to pursue both. It offers premium materials, comfort-focused features, and recognizable Jeep styling while retaining the hardware needed to venture beyond paved roads.
That combination has defined the Overland name for 25 years, and the latest version stays remarkably close to that original idea.
