Jeep Refines Its Smallest SUV Without Losing Character
The Jeep Avenger has already become a familiar sight across Europe, though the latest update suggests Jeep is not interested in letting the compact SUV settle into routine territory just yet.
For 2027, the Jeep Avenger 4xe 85th Anniversary arrives with refreshed styling, upgraded cabin materials, new technology, and a stronger emphasis on heritage-inspired detailing.
It still measures just over four meters long, yet Jeep continues to push the idea that the Avenger should behave like a much larger adventure-focused SUV. In many ways, the 4xe version remains the model that best captures that philosophy.
The Exterior Mixes Urban Size With Trail-Ready Details
Visually, the updated Avenger does not abandon the boxy proportions that made the original stand out in Europe’s crowded B-SUV segment.
The upright stance, squared wheel arches, short overhangs, and protective body cladding still give it a properly rugged appearance. Jeep also revises the bumpers and expands the lower-body protection elements, particularly on the 4xe version, where red vertical accents and the black Jeep Shield help separate it from front-wheel-drive trims.
Some of the strongest details are subtle.
The illuminated seven-slot grille now lights up at night, creating a more recognizable front-end signature inspired by the newer Compass. Fresh wheel designs in 17- and 18-inch sizes add a slightly cleaner look, while new Forest and Bamboo paint finishes lean heavily into Jeep’s outdoors-oriented branding.
The 85th Anniversary edition adds extra visual drama through gold-finished wheels and bumper accents, heritage-style fender badges, and a tartan hood decal that feels intentionally retro without becoming gimmicky.
Electrified 4xe Hardware Brings Genuine Capability
Underneath, the Avenger 4xe remains one of the more unusual offerings in the compact crossover segment.
The electrified all-wheel-drive system combines a front-mounted combustion engine with a rear electric motor and electrified dual-clutch transmission. Total output reaches 145 horsepower, while Jeep claims the rear electric motor can deliver up to 1,900 Nm of torque to the rear wheels.
That setup is designed more around traction and versatility than outright performance.
Jeep says the Avenger 4xe can tackle 40-percent gravel slopes and maintain progress even when the front axle loses grip. Ground clearance reaches up to 210 mm, while off-road geometry includes up to 22 degrees of approach angle and 35 degrees of departure angle.
Selec-Terrain and Hill Descent Control remain standard equipment across the lineup.
Cabin Technology Moves Upmarket
Inside, the updates are more noticeable than expected for a mid-cycle refresh.
Jeep introduces softer-touch door materials, padded dashboard sections, revised upholstery, and new washable interior surfaces exclusive to the 4xe variant. The anniversary model also gains tartan-pattern seats, gold stitching, ambient lighting, and unique trim pieces carrying 85th Anniversary branding.
Technology upgrades are substantial too.
LED matrix headlights now join the options list, while a new front camera system enables a 360-degree parking view displayed through the 10.25-inch infotainment screen. Wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and over-the-air software updates are included as standard.
Jeep says the Avenger has already accumulated more than 270,000 orders globally. With the 4xe 85th Anniversary edition, the brand appears determined to keep its smallest SUV from blending too comfortably into the mainstream crossover crowd.
