A familiar name gets a special edition
Twenty-five years after the original HUMMER became impossible to ignore, GMC is marking the milestone with something that feels more like a tribute than a redesign. The 2027 GMC Hummer EV Icon 25 doesn't introduce a new body or a major engineering overhaul. Instead, it celebrates the brand's history through carefully chosen design details while keeping the all electric supertruck largely unchanged underneath.
That approach makes sense. The current Hummer EV already has plenty of presence, so the anniversary model focuses on reminding buyers where that personality came from.
The H2 influence is easy to spot
The exclusive ICON paint is the first giveaway. It takes inspiration from the bright yellow finish that became closely associated with the Hummer H2, although the shade has been modernized for today's lineup. Black accents, including the front approach shield, help break up the bodywork and give the truck an even more planted look.
The rest is classic Hummer EV. The upright proportions, squared surfaces and broad stance remain exactly as expected. Nothing here feels exaggerated simply because it's a special edition. GMC has resisted the temptation to overload it with extra trim, and the result feels cleaner.
Small interior touches tell the story
Open the door and the anniversary theme continues, although it's handled with restraint. Every Icon 25 receives serialized badging on the dashboard along with unique graphics inside the infotainment system that reference earlier HUMMER models. Buyers also receive a commemorative keepsake exclusive to the limited production run.
Otherwise, the cabin is familiar territory. It keeps the digital displays, spacious layout and premium finishes already offered across the Hummer EV range instead of trying to reinvent the interior for one edition.
Capability remains the headline
Mechanically, the Icon 25 follows the wider updates introduced for the 2027 Hummer EV family. Every model now adopts the North American Charging Standard connector, making charging compatibility simpler, while available vehicle to home capability can provide backup power when paired with GM Energy equipment.
Off road hardware is unchanged, and that's probably what buyers would expect. Available features still include CrabWalk, King Crab rear steering, Air Ride Adaptive Suspension and Extract Mode for additional ground clearance. Pickup models continue to offer as many as 18 camera views for trail driving.
Performance also remains substantial. The 3X Pickup can produce up to 1,160 horsepower and 13,000 lb-ft of torque, with GMC quoting a 0 to 60 mph time of just 2.8 seconds when equipped with the optional 24 module battery.
Built to mark an important milestone
The Icon 25 will be offered on both Pickup and SUV versions in 2X and 3X trims, with production scheduled to begin later in 2026 at GM's Factory ZERO in Michigan. Pricing hasn't been announced yet, but that almost feels secondary. This model exists to celebrate one of the industry's most recognizable names, carrying its story into the electric era rather than rewriting it.
