2027 Genesis GV90

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The GV90 delivers 657 combined horsepower and 590 lb-ft of torque from dual motors, drawing on a 123.5 kWh battery for an estimated 310-mile range (7-seat configuration) and 10%-80% charging in 22 minutes on a 350-kW charger.

  • The GV90 Neolun variant introduces the Neolun Arch Gate, described as the world's first independently opening and closing hidden B-pillar coach doors, along with motorized front seats that swivel 180 degrees when parked.

  • Safety features include a 12-airbag system with what Genesis calls the world's first Roof Airbag, a reinforced aluminum underbody, and a concealed roll cage structure 1.5 times thicker than conventional vehicles.

A Body Inspired By Porcelain, Not Aggression

Genesis is taking a notably restrained approach to flagship SUV design with the GV90, drawing its exterior language from the traditional Korean moon jar rather than the aggressive creases common to the segment. The result, according to the release, minimizes decorative elements in favor of proportion and curve — Wing Face Micro Lens Array headlamps span the front fascia beneath a clamshell hood, and the rear avoids a spoiler entirely in favor of flush-mounted, surface-emitting taillights and simple Genesis lettering.

Flagship Proportions, With an Unusual Entry Point

At 208.1 inches long and 79.9 inches wide with a 127.8-inch wheelbase, the GV90 sits squarely in full-size SUV territory. What sets the GV90 Neolun variant apart is its Neolun Arch Gate — hidden B-pillar coach doors that open front and rear in unison, using a dual-motion hinge that slides the rear door outward before rotating it open. Genesis says this required engineering a reinforced structure with dual steel beams and a concealed roll cage 1.5 times thicker than conventional vehicles to maintain crash performance without a traditional B-pillar.

A Cabin Built Around Screens and Swiveling Seats

Inside, the GV90 replaces a conventional instrument cluster with a 25-inch head-up display and centers the dashboard around a pop-up 23.6-inch OLED display that extends to 24.6 inches when parked. The Neolun variant adds motorized front seats that rotate a full 180 degrees at the push of a button, creating a face-to-face lounge configuration while parked. A New Power Control System eliminates the traditional start button entirely — the car powers on as a passenger pulls the door handle, and starts by pressing the brake pedal.

Dual Motors and a Segment-Leading Battery

Power comes from a dual-motor setup delivering 322 hp/258 lb-ft up front and 335 hp/332 lb-ft at the rear, for a combined 657 hp and 590 lb-ft. The 123.5 kWh battery is the largest Genesis has fitted to any vehicle, supporting an estimated 310-mile range in the 7-seat configuration and a 10-80% charge in 22 minutes on a 350-kW fast charger. A Dual E-LSD — a first for Hyundai Motor Group — distributes power across both axles for cornering grip, while active rear-wheel steering turns up to five degrees to tighten the turning radius.

Comfort Features and Where It Sits in the Market

The GV90 layers on a 25-speaker Bang & Olufsen sound system, massage seats with 15 individual air cells, and a heated windshield described as a first for Hyundai Motor Group. The Neolun Executive Suite four-seat configuration adds a real wood veneer floor, a second-row refrigerator, and a Smart Vision Roof with independently controllable transparency zones.
