2027 Geely EX2 Brings Big EV Thinking to a Small Car
Small electric cars usually come with compromises. Limited range, cramped rear seating, and modest cargo space are often part of the deal. The 2027 Geely EX2 takes a different approach. Built on Geely's Global Intelligent New Energy Architecture, it focuses on maximizing interior room and everyday usability without increasing its compact footprint.
Available in Complete and Inspire trims, the EX2 starts at $26,490 before on road costs. That places it among the more affordable electric hatchbacks while offering equipment and practicality typically associated with vehicles from the next segment up.
Compact Dimensions With Smart Packaging
The exterior keeps things simple and modern. Short overhangs, clean body lines, semi concealed door handles, and distinctive LED lighting give the EX2 a fresh appearance without relying on exaggerated styling. Inspire models receive a contrasting black roof and metallic side accents, while every version rides on 16 inch wheels fitted with Yokohama tires.
Inside, the packaging is where the EX2 stands out. Geely has made efficient use of the platform, creating a cabin that feels noticeably roomier than its exterior dimensions suggest. More than 30 storage compartments are spread throughout the interior, joined by a 70 litre front trunk, a 375 litre rear cargo area, and additional storage beneath the front seats. Wider door openings and revised air conditioning packaging also improve comfort and accessibility for passengers.
Rear Wheel Drive Makes a Difference
Unlike most rivals in this class, the EX2 uses a rear wheel drive layout. The Complete variant produces 60 kW and 150 Nm from a rear mounted electric motor paired with a 35.3 kWh battery, delivering up to 252 km of WLTP driving range. Inspire increases output to 85 kW while upgrading to a 47.1 kWh battery capable of up to 345 km of WLTP range.
Both variants use liquid cooled LFP battery technology designed to improve efficiency, battery longevity, and thermal management. The rear wheel drive layout is complemented by a multi link independent rear suspension and a tight 9.9 metre turning circle, giving the EX2 characteristics that are uncommon among entry level electric hatchbacks. Australian specification models also benefit from chassis tuning developed with Geely Technology Europe.
