2027 Ferrari Luce Azzurro la Plata

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Ferrari Luce is the brand’s first all-electric production car with four independent motors.

  • New platform delivers 1050 cv, over 530 km of range and 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds.

  • Designed with LoveFrom, the EV introduces a radically different five-seat Ferrari layout.

Ferrari Enters The EV Era With The Luce

The 2027 Ferrari Luce is not just another high-performance EV wearing a famous badge. Ferrari is positioning it as an entirely new branch of the company’s identity, one that sits alongside its combustion and hybrid models rather than replacing them.

Unveiled in Rome, the Luce becomes the first fully electric production Ferrari and also the first five-seat model in the company’s history. The car was developed around a dedicated electric architecture with four independent motors, active suspension and a body designed in collaboration with LoveFrom, the creative collective led by Sir Jony Ive and Marc Newson.

Ferrari says the project generated more than 60 patents during development. That figure alone hints at how seriously Maranello approached this transition.

A Shape Unlike Any Previous Ferrari

The exterior moves away from the traditional long-hood Ferrari proportions.

Instead, the Luce uses a cab-forward layout with a large glasshouse that stretches deep into the body sides. Ferrari describes the shape as shell-like, and from certain angles it looks more architectural than automotive. Floating aerodynamic wings at the front and rear help define the silhouette while also managing airflow.

There are no aggressive vents or oversized aerodynamic add-ons interrupting the body. Most surfaces remain smooth and uninterrupted, clearly designed around aerodynamic efficiency rather than visual drama alone. Ferrari claims the Luce achieves the lowest drag coefficient of any road-going Ferrari so far.

The proportions are unusual for the brand. Four doors and five seats create a footprint closer to a grand touring crossover, though the low roofline and massive 23-inch front and 24-inch rear wheels keep the stance planted and unmistakably performance-oriented.

Cabin Prioritises Space And Driver Interaction

Inside, the Luce takes a cleaner and more technical approach than recent Ferraris.

Physical switches, aluminium toggles and rotary controls remain central to the experience, avoiding the fully touch-based layouts now common in EVs. Ferrari mixes these with OLED displays developed with Samsung Display specifically for the Luce.

The steering wheel itself becomes a central design element, housing torque-control paddles and Ferrari’s e-Manettino system. One unusual feature allows drivers to progressively adjust power delivery through the paddles rather than simulating traditional gear shifts.

Rear passengers also receive dedicated climate and information controls, reinforcing the Luce’s positioning as a long-distance GT rather than a stripped-back supercar. The luggage compartment offers 597 litres of cargo space, making it one of the most practical Ferraris yet.

Four Motors Deliver Hypercar Numbers

Performance figures remain firmly in Ferrari territory despite the change in propulsion.

The Luce produces a combined 1050 cv from four electric motors, one mounted at each wheel. Ferrari claims 0-100 km/h in 2.5 seconds, 0-200 km/h in 6.8 seconds and a top speed exceeding 310 km/h.

A 122 kWh battery pack supports up to 350 kW fast charging and delivers an estimated range of more than 530 km. Ferrari also developed an entirely new torque-management system designed to make acceleration feel more progressive and mechanical than typical EVs.

Perhaps most interestingly, Ferrari focused heavily on sound development. Instead of artificial speaker-generated noise, the Luce amplifies real vibrations and frequencies produced by the electric motors and drivetrain hardware.

The result is a Ferrari that feels less like a silent appliance and more like a new interpretation of performance.
