2027 Czinger 21C Spyder

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The 21C Spyder is the first open-top 21C variant, using a removable 22-lb carbon fiber hardtop plus a stowable soft top for backup weather protection.

  • BrakeNode debuts here, a fully integrated brake caliper, upright and hydraulic structure that cuts stopping distance by up to 15%.

  • The hybrid AWD powertrain combines a 750-hp 2.88L twin-turbo V8 with 500 hp of electric motors for 1,250 hp total, hitting 60 mph in 1.9 seconds.

A Roof That Comes Off Without Ruining the Silhouette

Czinger built the 21C around a Spyder variant from the start, and it shows. Removing the roof didn't force compromises elsewhere; the removable carbon fiber hardtop weighs just 22 lbs and detaches via two latches inside the cabin, then stores on a dedicated mount built from additively manufactured aluminum and carbon fiber. A stowable soft top rides along for unexpected weather. With the top installed, Czinger says the car's proportions stay identical to the closed 21C variants.

Proportions Built Around a Single-File Cockpit

The 21C's signature in-line seating — driver up front, passenger behind, fighter-jet style — carries over to 21C Spyder and shapes everything about its stance. That narrow layout keeps frontal area down, which Czinger credits for a 3.0:1 lift-to-drag ratio, and frees up room for full-length channeled side splitters that wouldn't fit a conventional side-by-side cabin. At 184 inches long and 95.4 inches wide with mirrors out, dry weight lands at 3,571 lbs, just 22 lbs over the closed-roof 21C HDF.

Cabin Tech Centers on a Single Structure

Where the dashboard would normally be, 21C Spyder gets NeuralNode, a one-piece structure that folds in HVAC vents, lighting and climate controls, and the steering wheel mounts into a design Czinger describes as functional rather than decorative. The driver display doubles as infotainment with wireless Apple CarPlay, and audio runs through an eight-speaker Morel system built specifically around the open cabin, including carbon fiber speaker cones to keep weight down.

Power Numbers That Separate It From Ordinary Hypercars

Czinger's in-house 2.88-liter twin-turbo V8 revs to 11,000 rpm and makes 750 hp on its own, a power density the company calls the highest of any homologated production V8. Two front-axle electric motors plus a crankshaft-mounted generator motor add another 500 hp, for a combined 1,250 hp and 691 lb-ft of torque routed through a seven-speed single-clutch gearbox. The result is a 0-60 mph run of 1.9 seconds, a quarter mile in 8.7 seconds, and a 205 mph top speed with the roof on.

Everyday Usability Wrapped Around Track Capability

Despite the numbers, the 21C Spyder is built to be driven on public roads, with full FMVSS and California CARB compliance and more than 35 crash tests behind it, including added roof-crush testing specific to the open-top structure. Four drive modes — Street, Sport, Track and Track+ — shift the car's character from efficient daily use to track-only settings that lower ride height and stiffen the dampers by 50%. Rear-seat space was designed to fit passengers up to 6'5", a detail that matters given how tightly packaged the cabin otherwise is.

Positioned at the Top of an Already Rare Field

With production limited to 30 examples and pricing starting from $2.75M, the 21C Spyder sits alongside 21C HDF and 21C VMax as the third member of Czinger's lineup, and each car leaves the company's Los Angeles facility as a one-of-one build. That kind of scarcity and price point puts it in territory shared by low-volume hypercars from established European rivals, though Czinger doesn't name any directly in its materials.
