Chevrolet’s most recognizable EV is back, and it’s grown up without losing its point. The 2027 Chevrolet Bolt LT re-enters the market as a practical, Ultium-based electric hatchback that still keeps the price under $30,000—a rare feat in today’s EV world. Production begins early 2026, and it’ll be built in Kansas at GM’s Fairfax Assembly plant.

Chevy clearly listened to what worked the first time. The Bolt LT remains approachable, compact, and friendly-looking, but now under the skin sits GM’s Ultium platform paired with a 65 kWh lithium-iron-phosphate battery. It’s good for an estimated 255 miles of range and can charge from 10% to 80% in roughly 26 minutes using a 150 kW fast charger. For those living in Tesla territory, the inclusion of a native NACS port means no more adapters.

Sharper Form, Same Clever Footprint

In press images, the 2027 Bolt LT keeps its upright hatchback stance—short hood, steep windshield, wide rear—but with smoother surfacing and tighter details. It’s familiar, but fresher. Chevy’s designers avoided chasing SUV trends; instead, they leaned into proportion and practicality.

Seven exterior colors, including Radiant Red and Atomic Yellow, bring more life to the shape, and all models roll on 17-inch wheels wrapped in Michelin all-seasons. The compact dimensions—just under 170 inches long—mean it still fits neatly into city parking spots, something its growing list of crossover competitors can’t claim.

Inside: Cleaner, Smarter, More Useful

The cabin redesign is the most obvious upgrade. The old Bolt’s quirky dashboard gives way to a more mature layout with an 11.3-inch infotainment screen and a separate 11-inch digital driver display. The shifter has moved to the column, opening up the center console for storage and wireless charging. There’s also a small dash cubby and more USB-C ports scattered throughout.

Standard tech now includes Google built-in, wireless Apple CarPlay, Android Auto, and Super Cruise 5—GM’s latest hands-free driving suite available on higher trims. Over 20 safety features come standard, like Rear Cross Traffic Braking, Intersection Collision Mitigation, and Automatic Emergency Braking.

Built on Ultium, Aimed at Everyone

Underneath, a single front-drive motor known as the X76 handles propulsion, using a new silicon-carbide inverter and segmented magnet design for efficiency. Regenerative braking is tuned for smoother pedal transitions—something the first-gen Bolt struggled with.

Cargo space remains strong at 16.2 cubic feet behind the seats or 56.3 cubic feet folded, and curb weight is a manageable 3,776 lb. Chevy even adds Vehicle-to-Home (V2H) capability, allowing the Bolt to power a house during outages when properly equipped.
