2027 BYD Ti 7

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The BYD Ti 7 starts at £47,995 on-the-road, sold only in flagship Excellence AWD specification in the UK.

  • Its DM-p plug-in hybrid system produces 408PS combined, with 0-62mph in 4.8 seconds and 74 miles of electric-only range.

  • Boot space ranges from 126 litres in seven-seat mode to 970 litres with the third row folded, and 1,830 litres with both rear rows down.

BYD has put a number on its first seven-seat SUV for the UK. The Ti 7 arrives from £47,995 on-the-road, and with it comes a powertrain the brand hasn't offered in Britain before: DM-p, or Dual Mode performance.

Exterior Design and Stance

The Ti 7 wears an unapologetically boxy profile, the kind of chunky, imposing shape that tends to sell well in this segment. 20-inch alloy wheels sit inside flared wheel arch extensions, and privacy glass covers the rear doors and tailgate. LED lighting wraps the car, with headlights that run a welcome animation on approach and puddle lights built into the door mirrors. Buyers get six exterior colours to pick from — Starlight Silver comes at no extra cost, four more shades add £1,100, and a Matte Titanium Grey finish tops the list at £2,000.

Interior Space and Technology

Acoustic glass on the windscreen and front windows, plus a panoramic glass roof, shape the sense of refinement inside. Leather trim is standard across the range in black, light grey or brown, with heating and ventilation for the front seats and outer second-row seats, and three-zone climate control splitting temperature by row. There's also an in-car refrigerator and drinks warmer mounted between the front seats — not something every rival in this class bothers with. Tech runs to a 15.6-inch central touchscreen, a 10.25-inch digital instrument cluster and an 18-speaker sound system.

Powertrain and Performance

Under the bonnet, sort of — DM-p combines three motors, one front and one rear, with a longitudinally mounted 1.5-litre turbocharged petrol engine feeding a 35.6kWh Blade Battery. Combined output lands at 408PS, enough to send the Ti 7 from 0-62mph in a claimed 4.8 seconds on to a 118mph top speed. Most of the time the petrol engine's 150PS is used to generate electricity rather than drive the wheels directly, and BYD quotes 74 miles of electric-only range before the engine needs to do more work.

Practical Usability

This is a genuine three-row car, not a token third bench. Middle-row seats adjust in four directions with what BYD describes as generous knee- and headroom throughout. Boot space shifts a lot depending on configuration: 126 litres with all seven seats up, 970 litres with the third row folded, and 1,830 litres with both rear rows stowed.

Market Positioning

Pitched against rivals in the seven-seat SUV segment, BYD is leaning on standard equipment and outright power to justify the asking price — a refrigerator and drinks warmer aren't typical fare at this end of the market. The Ti 7 is open for order now, with a £500 deposit matched by BYD for early adopters, first cars due in showrooms in November, and customer deliveries beginning January 2027.
