2027 Buick Electra L7 Sedan
By Lorenzo Bianchi August 6, 2026
The all-electric Electra L7 pairs an 800-volt architecture with an 80.6-kWh CATL battery for a CLTC-rated 702 km of range.
6C ultra-fast charging adds roughly 450 km of range in about 10 minutes, and the rear motor makes 282 kW for a 5.6-second 0-100 km/h sprint in Boost mode.
Pre-sale pricing spans RMB 169,900 to RMB 206,900 across three trims, with launch benefits available for orders placed before August 21.
A Familiar Silhouette, New Colors
Buick isn't reinventing the Electra L7's shape for the battery-electric version — it carries over the fastback proportions and design cues from the extended-range model that launched last year. What's new are two exterior colors built specifically for this variant: a deep green with warm metallic flecks, and a low-saturation pink-purple that leans softer than anything else in the lineup. Each pairs with its own interior theme, so the color choice extends past the paint and into the cabin's ambient lighting and material palette.
Proportions Carried Over, Purpose Sharpened
Because the BEV shares its body with the extended-range Electra L7, the stance and greenhouse should read the same in photos — a low, sedan-like roofline running into a fastback tail. [Inference] The real differentiator sits underneath: without a combustion engine and its plumbing, Buick had room to fit the larger battery pack without disrupting the exterior proportions buyers already know from the EREV.
A Cabin Built Around Recovery
Buick calls the interior concept a "floating de-stress cabin," and the details back up the phrase. The front passenger seat reclines into a 120-degree zero-gravity position at the touch of a button, and all main seats get electric lumbar support, ventilation, heating and massage. A 27-speaker audio system with headrest-mounted units, a PDLC panoramic roof and an in-cabin fragrance system round out the sensory pitch. Less flashy but arguably more useful: 6mm laminated glass, heavy sound insulation, PM2.5 filtration and automatic dehumidification are aimed at keeping the cabin quiet and the air clean on long drives, not just comfortable for a photo.
Power and Charging Built for Daily Use
The rear-mounted motor produces up to 282 kW and 382 Nm of torque, enough for a 5.6-second run to 100 km/h in Boost mode. More relevant for ownership: the 800-volt platform supports 6C charging, adding around 450 km of range in roughly 10 minutes. Buick also built in a 55°C temperature-controlled fast-charging system that keeps peak cell temperature well under China's 65°C national limit, a detail aimed squarely at long-term battery health rather than headline numbers. A 6kW V2L outlet can run outdoor appliances — Buick specifically mentions an electric oven, coffee machine and projector — for camping or tailgate use.
Comfort Hardware and Everyday Practicality
Ride quality leans on RTD continuous damping control across the range, with higher trims adding a road-scanning "magic carpet" chassis that adjusts damping hundreds of times per second ahead of bumps. On safety, Buick points to five-layer underbody battery protection, a high-strength steel and aluminum safety cell, and 77 crash tests completed during development.
Positioning in the Market
Priced from RMB 169,900 to RMB 206,900 after subsidies across the 702 Luxury, 702 Luxury Plus and 702 Avenir trims, the Electra L7 BEV slots in as Buick's fully electric flagship sedan for China, sold alongside the extended-range model rather than replacing it.
