Brabus Builds Its Most Personal Supercar Yet
The 2027 Brabus BODO feels very different from the company’s usual projects.
Rather than another heavily modified Mercedes-AMG derivative, the BODO arrives as a full coachbuilt grand tourer developed as a tribute to late Brabus founder Bodo Buschmann. And unlike many modern hypercars chasing electrification and minimalism, this one leans unapologetically into old-school excess.
Big engine. Long hood. Carbon body. V12 soundtrack.
Brabus says the project had been evolving internally for nearly two decades before finally reaching production form. The result is a 2+2 grand touring coupe measuring just over five meters long and riding on a bespoke aluminum monocoque chassis wrapped entirely in carbon fiber bodywork.
Production is capped at 77 examples, referencing the year Brabus was founded in 1977.
The Design Looks More Coachbuilt Than Tuned
Visually, the BODO avoids the exaggerated vents and layered styling often associated with aftermarket supercars.
Instead, the proportions do most of the talking.
The roofline sits extremely low at just 1,305 mm tall, while the long rearward body sections taper aggressively into the back of the car. From some angles, the silhouette almost resembles a modern interpretation of classic Italian V12 grand tourers, though executed with unmistakably German precision.
At the front, Brabus integrates a large grille with 13 vertical slats alongside oversized RAM-AIR ducts feeding the twin-turbocharged V12. Unique LED matrix headlights and a gloss carbon front splitter further sharpen the appearance.
The rear becomes even more dramatic.
Seven individual LED lighting elements sit on each side, while a large active rear spoiler automatically deploys depending on speed and braking forces. Under hard braking above 140 km/h, the spoiler rises vertically to function as an air brake.
Even the exhaust outlets feel theatrical.
The titanium quad exhaust system uses vertically stacked rectangular tips manufactured through 3D metal printing technology.
A Thousand Horsepower With Rear Wheel Drive
Under the carbon hood sits a hand-built 5.2-liter twin-turbocharged V12 producing 735 kW, or 1,000 hp, alongside 1,200 Nm of torque. Power reaches the rear wheels through an eight-speed automatic transmission and electronically controlled differential.
Performance numbers are predictably extreme.
Brabus claims the BODO reaches 100 km/h in 3.0 seconds, 200 km/h in 8.5 seconds, and 300 km/h in 23.9 seconds before eventually topping out at an electronically limited 360 km/h.
Despite those figures, Brabus repeatedly describes the car as a grand tourer rather than a track-focused machine.
Five separate drive modes alter suspension settings, throttle response, steering feel, and exhaust sound characteristics. There is even a lift system capable of raising both axles by roughly 25 mm for urban driving.
The Cabin Stays Focused On Long Distance Comfort
Inside, the BODO continues Brabus’ familiar “Masterpiece” approach.
Black leather dominates the cabin, paired with exposed carbon fiber trim, Shadow Gray accents, and embroidered references to Bodo Buschmann himself. The seats combine aggressive bolstering with long-distance comfort, while BRABUS “Shell” quilting extends across the seats, floor mats, trunk liner, and luggage compartment.
Each car also receives blockchain-based digital authentication integrated into a dedicated spec plate.
At €1 million before taxes, the BODO occupies a very small niche of the automotive world. Yet it also feels unusually sincere. Underneath the performance numbers and carbon fiber sits a project clearly shaped by emotion rather than market trends alone.
