2027 Bentley Continental GT S Thunder
By Lorenzo Bianchi June 6, 2026
The most powerful Continental GT S to date, delivering 680 PS and 930 Nm from a hybridised V8 powertrain.
GT Speed chassis technology becomes standard on the S, including active all-wheel drive and rear steering.
Visual and interior changes reinforce a more driver-focused position within Bentley’s grand touring range.
A darker interpretation of Bentley’s grand tourer
The 2027 Bentley Continental GT S arrives as a clear counterpoint to the more relaxed Azure models and the uncompromising GT Speed. Visually, it leans into contrast and restraint rather than ornament. The exterior is dominated by Blackline Specification features, which substitute gloss black for chrome on the grilles, lower intakes, badging, and detailing. The purposeful effect gives the well-known Continental silhouette a more assertive, lower stance without changing its proportions.
Precision Design LED headlamps, previously reserved for higher-performance variants, add a sharper graphic to the front end. At the rear, dark-tinted lamps and sports exhaust finishers complete the look. Large 22-inch ten-spoke wheels come as standard, filling the arches convincingly and reinforcing the S model’s performance intent.
Hybrid V8 delivers headline performance
Under the bonnet sits Bentley’s High Performance Hybrid powertrain, combining a 4.0-litre crossplane V8 with electric assistance. The result is a combined output of 680 PS and 930 Nm, making this the most powerful Continental GT S ever produced. Performance figures reflect that position: 0–60 mph in 3.3 seconds and a top speed of 190 mph.
Beyond the numbers, Bentley notes that the sports exhaust has been tuned to emphasise the V8’s character, ensuring the hybrid system does not dilute the sensory experience. The powertrain is also capable of driving up to 50 miles in pure electric mode, a notable shift for a car that still prioritises long-distance performance over outright efficiency.
Chassis hardware borrowed from the GT Speed
A key change lies beneath the surface. The Continental GT S now adopts the Bentley Performance Active Chassis previously reserved for the GT Speed and Mulliner derivatives. This includes active all-wheel drive, torque vectoring across both axles, 48-volt Bentley Dynamic Ride, twin-valve dampers, all-wheel steering, and an electronic limited-slip differential.
Bentley positions this configuration as its most driver-focused all-wheel-drive setup, allowing a broader spread of handling behaviour depending on drive mode. In Dynamic mode, the system permits measured rear-axle slip, while stability systems can be fully disengaged for experienced drivers. The emphasis is on control and adjustability rather than outright aggression.
Interior details reinforce driver focus
Inside, the Continental GT S receives a specification unique to the model. A distinctive two-tone upholstery split, fluted seats, and Dinamica fabric on high-contact areas signal a more technical, performance-oriented environment. Piano Black veneer is standard, echoing the exterior’s darkened theme, while alternative finishes remain available for buyers seeking a subtler expression.
Placing oneself in the continental range
The 2027 Continental GT S perfectly balances performance and luxury. It is more focused than the Azure, less extreme than the Speed, and aimed squarely at drivers who value engagement without abandoning Bentley’s core grand touring character.
