By Lorenzo Bianchi June 9, 2026
The 2027 Audi Q7 introduces a new design, digital lighting technology, and an updated interior.
Buyers can choose five, six, or seven-seat configurations with up to 2,075 litres of cargo space.
A 3.0-litre V6 diesel with MHEV plus technology delivers up to 299 hp and standard quattro drive.
Audi's Largest SUV Enters Its Third Generation
More than two decades after the original Q7 arrived, Audi has unveiled an all-new third generation of its largest SUV. The 2027 Audi Q7 remains familiar in concept, but almost every area of the vehicle has been revisited, from the cabin layout to the lighting technology and powertrain.
Audi clearly sees the Q7 as a vehicle that needs to do several jobs at once. It has to work as a family hauler during the week, cover long highway distances in comfort, and still carry the premium image buyers expect from a flagship SUV. That philosophy runs through much of the new model.
A Stronger Presence on the Road
The new Q7 looks more upright and substantial than before. Audi has raised the position of the four-ring badge and bonnet line, giving the front end a taller appearance. A large Singleframe grille remains the focal point, flanked by slim digital lighting elements and redesigned air intakes.
Along the side, pronounced wheel arches and Audi's familiar quattro-inspired shoulder treatment help break up the SUV's sizeable body. The roofline stays relatively straight before meeting a more upright D-pillar, a change that also benefits interior space.
At the rear, a full-width light strip links the digital OLED taillights. The design is cleaner than before, with the lighting becoming one of the vehicle's defining visual features.
Cabin Focuses on Space and Everyday Practicality
The biggest changes may be found inside. Audi now offers the Q7 with three seating layouts. Buyers can choose the standard five-seat arrangement, a traditional seven-seat version, or a new six-seat configuration with individual second-row chairs.
Storage capacity remains a strong point. The five-seat model offers up to 806 litres of luggage space, expanding to 2,075 litres with the rear seats folded. The seven-seat version still provides substantial cargo room even with additional seating installed.
A newly developed panoramic glass roof stretches across the cabin and can switch between transparent and opaque settings. Audi has also integrated ambient lighting into the roof itself, creating a different atmosphere after dark.
Technology Moves Further Into Daily Driving
Inside the dashboard sits Audi's latest infotainment setup, combining a curved OLED display arrangement with a standard passenger screen. Voice controls have been expanded, while Audi says ChatGPT integration is available through the Audi assistant for broader information requests.
Lighting technology also plays a larger role than before. The digital Matrix LED headlights can project information onto the road surface, while new turn-signal projections are designed to improve visibility for cyclists and pedestrians at night.
Mild Hybrid Diesel Power Remains
At launch, the 2027 Audi Q7 will be offered with a 3.0-litre V6 diesel available in two outputs. The higher specification version produces 220 kW and 630 Nm, while a second variant develops 180 kW and 500 Nm. Both use Audi's MHEV plus system, an electric-powered compressor, an eight-speed automatic transmission, and quattro all wheel drive as standard.
With its mix of seating flexibility, advanced lighting technology, and long-distance capability, the new Q7 continues to occupy a unique place among large premium SUVs.
