2027 Audi A2 e-tron

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The most efficient version consumes 12.8 kWh/100 km WLTP, the lowest figure Audi has recorded for a series production model.

  • Four rear wheel drive versions offer 125 to 240 kW, while 52, 61 and 84 kWh battery options cover different range requirements.

  • German orders open September 10, 2026, starting at €38,200, with first deliveries scheduled for December.

The 2027 Audi A2 e tron brings the A2 name back with a very different brief. This time it belongs to a compact electric car developed for European customers, with efficiency, usable interior space and relatively modest battery sizes taking priority over headline power figures.

Audi says its 140 kW version with the optional efficiency package consumes 12.8 kWh/100 km WLTP, making it the most efficient series production Audi yet. Range reaches as much as 646 km depending on version.

Compact Body Uses Aerodynamics to Stretch Range

Short overhangs sit either side of a 2.77 meter wheelbase, while a sweeping roof arch falls gently toward a defined rear spoiler. Up front, the headlights and driver assistance sensors are incorporated into a black panel, with slim daytime running lights positioned above. Horizontal LEDs visually widen the rear.

The shape records a 0.24 drag coefficient. Audi uses a controllable cooling air intake, largely enclosed underbody, aero wheels and small gap reducers around the wheel arches to manage airflow. Electric door handles sit almost flush with the body.

Wheels range from 18 to 20 inches, with the aerodynamically optimized 19 inch combination providing the most efficient setup.

Softwrap Cabin Makes Use of the Long Wheelbase

Inside, the A2 e tron uses what Audi calls Softwrap, a fabric covered surface running from the dashboard through the doors and into the rear. An optional panoramic glass roof covers roughly 1.6 square meters.

An 11.9 inch Audi virtual cockpit plus and 12.8 inch curved MMI touchscreen form the standard panoramic display. The center console can wirelessly charge two phones at up to 25 watts, while the magnetic Fidlock system provides modular mounting points for storage accessories.

Cargo capacity is 396 liters, expanding to 1,336 liters with the rear seats folded. Higher output versions also receive a 13 liter frunk.

Four Rear Drive Versions Cover 125 to 240 kW

All versions use permanent magnet synchronous motors and rear wheel drive. Outputs start at 125 kW and 350 Nm, rising through 140 and 170 kW versions to a 240 kW flagship producing 545 Nm.

Battery choices are 52, 61 and 84 kWh gross. The 170 kW version delivers the longest quoted range at 646 km, while the 240 kW model manages 630 km and accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.7 seconds. The larger battery supports DC charging at up to 183 kW, with 10 to 80 percent taking 29 minutes.

V2L is available for powering external equipment, while compatible Vehicle to Home functionality is offered in Germany, Austria and Switzerland.

A2 e tron Targets Europe's Compact EV Market

The A2 e tron is developed in Germany and built alongside A3 bodies in Ingolstadt. German prices begin at €38,200 for the 125 kW, 52 kWh version and rise to €51,200 for the 240 kW model. Deliveries begin in December 2026.
