A New Flagship for IM Motors

The Zhiji LS6 — also marketed as the IM LS6 — isn’t short on ambition. Built by IM Motors, the joint venture between SAIC, Alibaba, and Zhangjiang Hi-Tech, it arrives squarely in the most competitive segment of China’s EV landscape: mid-to-large premium SUVs.

At 4,904 mm long, 1,988 mm wide, and 1,669 mm tall, with a 2,950 mm wheelbase, the LS6 sits between mainstream midsize crossovers and full-sized luxury SUVs. The shape leans into the coupe-SUV trend, with a sloping roofline balanced by strong shoulders and a planted stance. A full-width LED light bar stretches across the nose, mirrored at the rear, giving the SUV a futuristic but cohesive design.

From Everyday Range to Supercar Speed

Zhiji is offering the LS6 in a wide spread of versions, from practical to outright performance. The entry-level model runs a single rear-mounted motor producing 314 horsepower and 450 Nm of torque, good for around 560 km of CLTC range. A mid-spec version lifts output to about 340 hp, paired with a larger 90 kWh battery that stretches range closer to 680 km.

Step up to the dual-motor all-wheel-drive versions and the performance takes a leap. One configuration produces roughly 515 hp and clears the 0–100 km/h sprint in 4.5 seconds. At the top of the range sits the 787 hp flagship, delivering 800 Nm of torque and dropping the same sprint to just 3.5 seconds. With its 100 kWh battery, this variant still returns 702–760 km of CLTC range, a remarkable balance of speed and distance. Top speed runs up to 252 km/h in performance trims.

Battery and Charging Tech

Battery choices include 71, 90, and 100 kWh packs, depending on model. Standard versions use a 500-volt electrical architecture, while the high-end trims shift to a 900-volt platform that unlocks ultra-fast DC charging at nearly 400 kW. Under the right conditions, it can recover hundreds of kilometers of range in a short charging stop, putting it among the fastest-charging SUVs on the market.

Energy efficiency is also a focus, with average consumption reported at 13.2 kWh per 100 km in base versions.

Cabin and Features

Inside, the LS6 is pitched as a digital luxury space. Higher trims feature a sweeping widescreen dashboard that integrates driver information and infotainment. Connectivity is handled by a 5G backbone, with over-the-air updates baked in.

Comfort hasn’t been overlooked. Buyers can expect ventilated seats, a panoramic glass roof, ambient lighting, and high-quality upholstery. It’s an interior that matches the performance promise with a premium, high-tech feel.

Zhiji’s pricing strategy is as aggressive as its power figures. The LS6 starts at 214,900 yuan — about US$29,400 — and climbs to just under 292,000 yuan for the top specification.
