2026 Xpeng Motors P7 Plus

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Longer, wider proportions place the P7 Plus firmly in the large electric sedan class.

  • Dual powertrain strategy includes a 725 km pure EV and a 1,550 km range-extended version.

  • High-level computing architecture with three Turing chips delivering 2,250 TOPS.

Design and Proportions Emphasise Scale

The 2026 Xpeng Motors P7 Plus is a noticeable step up in physical presence compared to earlier P7 variants. With an overall length of 5,071 mm, a width of 1,937 mm, and a 3,000 mm wheelbase, the P7 Plus moves decisively into the large electric sedan category. From the official images, the car sits low and broad, with long doors and a smooth roofline that prioritises cabin space and visual balance.

At the front, Xpeng adopts a revised family-style lighting signature. A seamless LED daytime running light spans the nose, while the lower bumper integrates a dual-segment cooling vent with an active grille function. Ventilation openings at each corner add a technical edge without overcomplicating the surfaces. The overall impression is cleaner and more mature, with fewer decorative lines than before.

At the rear, the full-width taillight strip remains, but its internal structure has been redesigned. The bumper now follows a body-coloured finish, visually lowering the car, while the subtle ducktail spoiler on the rear window is carried over. A small blue driver-assistance indicator has been added at the centre of the taillights, quietly signalling the car’s technology focus.

Powertrain Choices and Electric Range

Xpeng takes a dual-track approach with the P7 Plus.

The pure electric P7 Plus delivers a quoted range of up to 725 km, aligning with Xpeng’s existing long-range specifications. Alongside it, the range-extended version pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged range extender producing 110 kW with a 180 kW drive motor. Energy is stored in a 49.2 kWh lithium iron phosphate battery, delivering a WLTC electric range of 325 km and a combined CLTC range of up to 1,550 km.

Xpeng confirms that 36 percent of the P7 Plus’s first-level powertrain components have been refreshed, indicating meaningful mechanical updates rather than cosmetic change alone.

Technology and Driver Assistance Architecture

One of the most significant upgrades lies beneath the surface. The P7 Plus is equipped with three in-house developed Turing chips, delivering a combined computing power of 2,250 TOPS. This hardware underpins Xpeng’s advanced driver-assistance systems and future software updates, reinforcing the brand’s emphasis on intelligent mobility rather than raw performance figures.

In total, Xpeng states that the P7 Plus incorporates 104 “experience upgrades,” though individual features beyond the computing platform have not been fully detailed at this stage.

Global Intent and Market Positioning

The 2026 Xpeng Motors P7 Plus is a truly worldwide model rather than a China-only product, as it has already been submitted for regulatory approval and is confirmed to be marketed in 36 countries.

This positioning places it in direct competition with other large electric sedans that balance long range, digital capability, and rear-seat comfort.

Rather than chasing radical styling or headline acceleration figures, Xpeng appears focused on scale, refinement, and technological depth. The P7 Plus reflects a deliberate expansion of the P7 nameplate into a more premium, internationally relevant space, with flexibility in powertrain choice and a strong emphasis on intelligent systems.
