2026 Xpeng Motors GX

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • Large six-seat flagship SUV measuring 5.26 metres long with a 3115 mm wheelbase.

  • Offered in pure electric and range-extended variants, with the latter capable of about 320 km electric driving.

  • Dual-motor layouts and a projected 200 km/h top speed.

XPeng Prepares a New Flagship SUV

Regulatory filings in China have revealed the 2026 XPeng GX, a new large SUV expected to sit near the top of the company’s growing lineup. According to documents submitted to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology, the vehicle is positioned as an AI-powered luxury six-seat SUV and will be offered with two electrified drivetrain options.

One version will operate as a conventional battery electric vehicle, while another adopts a range-extender configuration designed to extend long-distance usability. The filing suggests the GX could reach the market around April or May, although official launch timing has not yet been confirmed.

What’s clear already is the vehicle’s scale. The GX is meant to be a full-size family SUV rather than a compact electric crossover.

Exterior Design Focused on Proportion

Images accompanying the application show a design that leans toward restraint. The 2026 XPeng GX adopts relatively clean body surfaces finished primarily in darker tones such as grey, complemented by subtle gold detailing that gives the SUV a slightly more upscale look.

The front end carries a modern electric-vehicle layout with split headlights. Thin daytime running lights sit higher on the nose, while vertical lighting elements appear lower in the bumper. A clamshell-style hood and an active air intake grille complete the fascia.

Overall the design avoids excessive sculpting. Instead, the GX relies on size and stance to communicate presence.

Large Dimensions and Six Seat Layout

The GX’s proportions place it firmly in the large-SUV category. It measures 5265 mm in length, 1999 mm in width and 1800 mm in height, with a wheelbase of 3115 mm.

Those numbers translate into a vehicle designed around three rows and six seats, a layout increasingly common in premium electric SUVs aimed at families.

The side profile highlights a long wheelbase and extended rear overhang, while a floating roof effect helps visually reduce the height of the body. Application images also show a panoramic roof stretching across much of the cabin area.

At the rear, the design continues the minimal theme with segmented taillights and a clean tailgate surface.

Electric and Range Extended Powertrains

Two drivetrain options appear in the regulatory documentation.

The range-extended version pairs a 1.5-litre turbocharged engine producing 110 kW with dual electric motors. The front motor develops 160 kW, while the rear unit delivers 210 kW. The system allows the vehicle to travel up to 320 km on electric power alone before the range extender is required.

A pure electric version is also listed. It uses dual motors as well, with 160 kW at the front axle and 270 kW at the rear. Both configurations are reported to reach a top speed of 200 km/h.

Detailed battery capacity figures were not included in the filing.
