2026 Toyota Corolla Cross XLE
By Lorenzo Bianchi September 25, 2025
Updated front and rear styling modernizes the Corolla Cross XLE.
Gas and hybrid versions remain available, with the hybrid offering greater efficiency.
Toyota Safety Sense 3.0 and wireless smartphone integration now standard.
The Corolla Cross has only been around a short while, but Toyota clearly sees room to tighten its edges. For 2026, the XLE trim gets a reworked grille and new lighting designs at both ends. The result isn’t radical, but it is sharper, and closer in spirit to Toyota’s larger SUVs. Assembly continues at the Huntsville, Alabama plant, keeping production rooted in the U.S.
Powertrain Choices
Toyota is sticking with the formula that has worked since the model’s debut: offer buyers a straightforward gas-powered option and a more efficient hybrid. The hybrid remains the smart pick for drivers looking to stretch mileage and add a touch of responsiveness in daily driving. Toyota hasn’t provided fresh output figures, but the split in positioning is clear — one aimed at affordability, the other at efficiency.
Cabin Comfort
Inside, the 2026 XLE trim builds on the model’s reputation for practicality with a step up in refinement. Soft-touch materials replace harder plastics in key areas, and the front seats have been reshaped for better comfort on longer drives. The infotainment system now runs on a larger central screen, and Toyota has added wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto as standard.
Practicality remains the Corolla Cross’s strong suit. The rear seats fold to expand the already generous cargo space, and small touches like extra USB-C ports and improved cabin lighting make the interior more livable day to day.
Safety at the Core
Every Corolla Cross XLE now comes with Toyota Safety Sense 3.0. That includes adaptive cruise control, lane departure alert with steering assist, and pre-collision braking that can detect pedestrians. Blind spot monitoring and rear cross-traffic alert are also part of the package, rounding out a set of features that’s becoming expected in this segment.
