Toyota Expands Its Electric SUV Lineup With the C HR Plus
Toyota has introduced the 2025 Toyota C HR Plus, a new battery-electric SUV designed specifically for the European market. The model is positioned in the highly competitive C-SUV segment and forms part of Toyota’s broader electric strategy alongside the Urban Cruiser and the updated bZ4X.
Although the name references the popular Toyota C-HR, the C HR Plus is presented as a distinct vehicle rather than a direct electric conversion. It sits on Toyota’s dedicated e-TNGA battery-electric platform, bringing new styling, a unique interior layout and a range of powertrain configurations aimed at different buyers.
Toyota plans to launch the model in selected European markets in late 2025, with full availability across the region beginning in 2026.
SUV Proportions in a Coupe-Inspired Design
The Toyota C HR Plus maintains the original C-HR's coupe-inspired aesthetic. The roofline maintains the anticipated SUV stance while sloping toward the back to create a coupe-crossover look.
The front three-quarter perspective presents a sleeker, more contemporary look consistent with Toyota's most recent electric vehicles. The bumper, grille, and lighting design are exclusive to this model, and a wide track and minimal overhangs help create a planted stance.
Character lines flow from the side to the back, where the styling becomes more noticeable. The back has full-LED lighting covering the tailgate, a sharply slanted rear window, and an integrated roof spoiler.
The overall design strikes a compromise between aerodynamic efficiency and a distinctive appearance.
Interior Design with a Focus on Space and Connectivity
More inside space than is customary for the C-SUV class is the aim of the Toyota C HR Plus.
The vehicle offers plenty of room for passengers with a wheelbase of 2,750 mm and a total length of 4,520 mm.
According to Toyota, the front-to-back sitting distance is 900 mm, which helps rear passengers feel more comfortable.
The cabin itself has a sleek, contemporary design with a lot of emphasis on digital displays and ambient lighting.
A 14-inch multimedia display forms the centrepiece of the dashboard and includes EV-specific navigation capable of planning routes around charging stops.
Practical details highlight the vehicle’s everyday usability. Two wireless smartphone chargers are included in the front cabin, while rear passengers benefit from USB ports and dedicated climate controls. A panoramic roof further brightens the interior.
Cargo capacity is listed at 416 litres, supporting the C HR Plus’ role as a practical family vehicle.
Electric Powertrains With Multiple Battery Options
Toyota will offer the C HR Plus with two battery configurations to accommodate different driving needs.
The entry version uses a 57.7 kWh battery paired with a front-wheel-drive powertrain producing 167 hp. Models equipped with the larger 77 kWh battery increase output to 224 hp in front-wheel-drive form.
At the top of the lineup sits an all-wheel-drive variant delivering 343 hp, making it the most powerful non-GR passenger model in Toyota’s European range. This version is expected to accelerate from 0 to 100 km/h in approximately 5.2 seconds.
Depending on the battery and drivetrain setup, a maximum driving range of up to 600 km is anticipated under WLTP testing.
A 11 kW onboard AC charger and a 22 kW unit on higher grades are among the charging options; DC fast charging can go up to 150 kW.
Position in Toyota’s Expanding Electric Strategy
The Toyota C HR Plus represents another step in the company’s broader multi-technology strategy aimed at reducing emissions across its global lineup.
By adding a fully electric option in the heart of Europe’s C-SUV segment, Toyota expands its battery-electric portfolio while continuing to offer hybrid, plug-in hybrid and hydrogen models.
With its combination of coupe-style design, multiple battery choices and strong performance in AWD form, the C HR Plus is positioned as a central player in Toyota’s next phase of electric vehicles in Europe.
