2026 Subaru Uncharted Australian Version

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The Uncharted is Subaru's smallest SEV, producing 252kW combined from dual permanent magnet motors, with 0-100km/h in approximately 5 seconds and 522km of WLTP range.

  • It's sold in Australia as a single, fully specified Uncharted AWD variant priced from $59,990 MLP, with panoramic roof options adding $1,200 to $2,400.

  • Standard kit includes a 14-inch touchscreen, 10-speaker Harman Kardon audio, full Subaru Safety Sense, Dual-Mode X-Mode and a 1,500-watt Vehicle-to-Load outlet.

Subaru's electric line-up just picked up its smallest member. The Uncharted has landed in Australia as the compact entry point to Subaru's three-model SEV range, slotting below Solterra and Trailseeker, and first customer cars are already being delivered through dealers nationwide.

Exterior Design

Subaru leans into a fastback-inspired silhouette here, with a sharply raked tail and a high-contrast body that pulls visual mass down low over standard 20-inch alloy wheels wrapped in 235/50 R20 tyres. Thin, wide LED signature lamps run high across a clean face, with the main and high beams set lower in a split arrangement Subaru describes as sleek with a rugged edge. Flush rear door handles and matte silver detailing along the lower bumper round out the look, and dusk-sensing, self-levelling LED headlights with adaptive high-beam come standard.

Proportions and Stance

At 4,535mm long with a 2,750mm wheelbase, the Uncharted shares its front structure with the larger Solterra but runs a shorter wheelbase overall, giving it a footprint Subaru positions as easier to park without sacrificing cabin room. Ground clearance sits at 211mm at kerb weight, and the low, battery-in-the-floor design keeps the centre of gravity down for handling while preserving headroom for five occupants.

Interior Space and Technology

The cabin centres on a 14-inch touchscreen with wireless Apple CarPlay and Android Auto, paired with a 7-inch driver display, dual wireless Qi chargers, four USB-C ports and a 10-speaker Harman Kardon system with subwoofer and amplifier. Comfort features run to eight-way power-adjustable front seats with dual driver memory, heated front and rear outboard seats, a heated steering wheel, dual-zone climate control and multi-colour ambient lighting synced to drive mode. A panoramic glass roof is available as an option rather than standard.

Powertrain and Performance

Dual permanent magnet synchronous motors — 167kW front, 88kW rear — combine for 252kW total, driving all four wheels through Subaru's Symmetrical All-Wheel Drive system with a single-speed reduction gear. Subaru quotes roughly 5 seconds for 0-100km/h. A 74.7kWh CATL lithium-ion battery delivers up to 522km of WLTP range, with 150kW DC fast-charging taking the battery from 10 to 80% in about 30 minutes. Three drive modes — Eco, Normal and Power — adjust throttle response, while Dual-Mode X-Mode with Grip Control and a Multi-Terrain Monitor extend capability onto unsealed surfaces.

Practical Usability

Cargo space totals 403 litres behind the rear seats, accessed through a powered tailgate, expanding when the 60/40 split rear seats are folded. A standard 1,500-watt Vehicle-to-Load outlet lets the battery power camping gear or tools away from mains power, and the flat-floor EV platform keeps the centre rear seating position free of a transmission tunnel.

Market Positioning

Subaru is selling the Uncharted in a single, heavily equipped AWD variant priced from $59,990 MLP, with panoramic roof and two-tone paint packages available as options. It rounds out Subaru Australia's SEV range across small, medium and large SUV segments.
