Design: A Wagon That Doesn’t Look Like One
The 2026 Stelato S9T doesn’t look like your average station wagon—and that’s probably the point. It’s long, low, and strangely elegant for a segment usually reserved for utilitarian boxes on wheels. And with the S9 sedan already turning heads across China, this stretched-out wagon version feels like a natural, if ambitious, extension.
In profile, it stretches gracefully to over 5.16 meters. That’s big—longer than most crossovers it’ll share road space with. The roofline doesn’t drop dramatically like a shooting brake, either. It continues almost straight past the C-pillar before finally dipping down at the tail. This keeps rear headroom and cargo practicality intact, while also giving it a sort of lo-fi concept car silhouette. It’s a bit like if a Lucid Air and a Taycan Cross Turismo had a cousin who dressed a little cleaner.
Flush door handles, blacked-out pillars, and a crisp shoulder line help mask the sheer length. The 20-inch wheels are well-proportioned under subtle arches, and the rear features a single lightbar that glows like a horizontal meteor.
Tech: EV Power with Huawei Intelligence
Built on Huawei and BAIC’s Turing architecture, the S9T is offered in both pure electric and EREV (extended-range electric) formats. The BEV RWD model quietly produces 227 kW (304 hp), while the AWD dual-motor spec bumps that to 385 kW combined—pretty substantial for a wagon, even one this size. The EREV version adds a 1.5L turbo engine that acts as a generator, pushing total range to a claimed 1,355 km.
But it’s the cabin tech that sets this apart. The S9T runs Huawei’s ADS 3.0, complete with roof-mounted LiDAR, side sensors, and a suite of autonomous driving capabilities. Think NIO ES6 or Xpeng G9, but wrapped in a sleeker, more wagon-like suit. Inside, expect a minimalist cockpit with digital everything, including streaming side mirrors and ambient lighting with just the right amount of sci-fi flair.
Market Fit: Quiet Confidence in a Crowd of Crossovers
There’s no shortage of SUVs in this price bracket in China—Tesla Model Y, Zeekr 001, and XPeng G6 come to mind—but the S9T dares to be different. It’s not shouting, “Look at me!” the way a hyper-styled crossover might. It’s more of a quiet flex. Elegant, confident, and designed with families and long-distance comfort in mind.
