Sharper exterior design defines the 2026 Seat Cupra Born
The 2026 Seat Cupra Born arrives as a major evolution of the brand’s first fully electric model, carrying a noticeably sharper design language and a stronger focus on performance identity. Designed in Barcelona and produced in Zwickau, Germany, the updated Born continues to serve as CUPRA’s electric compact hatchback, now with a more assertive visual character.
The front end introduces what the brand describes as a shark nose profile, a sculpted form that visually pushes the nose forward and gives the car a more aggressive stance. The brand's distinctive design cues are highlighted by a copper-accented blade across the front fascia, while triangular matrix LED headlights reinforce the lighting signature.
Efficiency is gradually increased by air curtains and C-shaped aerodynamic components that direct airflow along the bodywork. With a redesigned bumper, a prominent diffuser, and LED taillights arranged in CUPRA's three-triangle motif, the design becomes more dramatic at the back. An illuminated rear logo sits within the light bar, adding a distinctive night-time signature.
Wheel designs range from 19-inch to 20-inch alloys, paired with wider 235 mm tyres intended to improve grip and road presence.
Improved materials and technology are used in interior design.
The 2026 Seat Cupra Born has a more upscale interior design. With sculpted surfaces that flow toward the driver's position, the dashboard is still driver-oriented. Copper accents continue to appear throughout the interior, reinforcing the brand’s performance identity.
The biggest visual change comes from the technology layout. A 12.9-inch central infotainment display running a new Android-based operating system now forms the centre of the dashboard. Ahead of the driver sits a larger 10.25-inch digital cockpit, replacing the smaller display used previously.
Physical controls return to the redesigned steering wheel, allowing drivers to adjust functions with greater tactile feedback. The wheel also integrates buttons for drive modes and regenerative braking control.
Material sustainability also plays a role. Standard bucket seats use SEAQUAL Yarn derived from recycled marine plastics, while optional upholstery incorporates recycled textile materials. A redesigned dashboard moulding uses 75 percent recycled material, reflecting CUPRA’s broader sustainability goals.
Ambient lighting runs through the door panels and dashboard, subtly animating according to driving mode.
Electric powertrain and VZ performance variant
Under the skin, the 2026 Seat Cupra Born introduces a broader range of electric powertrain options.
Three configurations are available. Entry-level models have an estimated range of about 450 kilometers thanks to a 140 kW motor and a 58 kWh battery. With a 79 kWh battery, mid-range models generate 170 kW, increasing range to about 600 km.
With 240 kW (326 PS) and 545 Nm of torque, the Cupra Born VZ is the flagship model. This version accelerates from 0 to 100 km/h in 5.6 seconds and reaches a top speed of 200 km/h, while still maintaining a claimed range of around 600 km.
Driving technology includes one-pedal driving, launch control, progressive steering, and Dynamic Chassis Control with up to fifteen adjustment levels. Multiple driver modes allow the vehicle’s character to shift between efficiency and performance.
Charging capability includes 11 kW AC charging and up to 185 kW DC fast charging, enabling rapid replenishment of the larger battery pack.
