2026 Rolls-Royce Phantom Arabesque

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • First-ever laser-engraved Rolls-Royce bonnet, developed over five years.

  • One-of-one Phantom Extended commissioned by Private Office Dubai.

  • Mashrabiya-inspired design echoed across exterior, Gallery marquetry and cabin details.

A One Off Commission Rooted in Architecture

The 2026 Rolls-Royce Phantom Arabesque arrives not as a series production model but as a singular statement. Commissioned through Rolls-Royce Motor Cars Private Office Dubai, this one-of-one Phantom Extended draws its inspiration from mashrabiya latticework, a defining element of traditional Middle Eastern architecture.

Mashrabiya screens, carved in intricate geometric patterns, are historically used to provide privacy, airflow and filtered light in homes and courtyards across the region. Phantom Arabesque interprets that architectural language through contemporary craftsmanship, translating geometry and shadow into surface and material.

The First Laser Engraved Bonnet in Rolls Royce History

The centrepiece is the world’s first fully laser-engraved Rolls-Royce bonnet. The technique, newly patented and developed over a five-year programme at the marque’s Exterior Surface Centre, represents an entirely new craft discipline for the brand.

The process begins with the bonnet painted in a darker tone, sealed beneath multiple layers of clear coat. A lighter top layer is then applied. The mashrabiya pattern is engraved into the uppermost surface to a depth of just 145 to 190 microns, revealing the darker layer beneath.

To guarantee uniformity and sculptural accuracy, every engraved region is hand-sanded.

Instead of being applied as an overlay, the end effect is a three-dimensional surface that is incorporated into the paint itself. As light travels across the bonnet, variations in laser intensity and velocity produce faint tonal changes. The effect is technical, but also tactile.

The exterior is finished in a two-tone scheme of Diamond Black and Silver. A single hand-painted coachline in Silver incorporates a mashrabiya motif, while an illuminated Pantheon grille framed in Dark Chrome and an uplit Spirit of Ecstasy complete the front graphic. Twenty-two-inch part-polished alloy wheels reinforce the Phantom’s formal stance.

Gallery Marquetry and Bespoke Detailing

Inside, the architectural theme continues across the Gallery, which spans the width of the fascia. An intricate marquetry composition crafted from Blackwood and Black Bolivar wood mirrors the mashrabiya geometry.

An offset clock in a complementary dark finish punctuates the composition without disturbing its symmetry.

The cabin is trimmed in Selby Grey and Black leather, with Black seat piping and carpets. Mashrabiya motifs are embroidered on the headrests and echoed in illuminated treadplates bearing a cross-section of the bonnet engraving.

Starlight Doors feature Selby Grey piping and Black contrast stitching, maintaining a restrained and cohesive palette.

Positioning Within the Phantom Lineage

Phantom Arabesque is built on the Phantom Extended platform. WLTP figures for Phantom Extended indicate combined CO₂ emissions of 373–362 g/km and fuel consumption of 17.2–17.7 mpg.

In an era where luxury increasingly intersects with technology, the 2026 Rolls-Royce Phantom Arabesque does not rely on electrification or digital spectacle to define itself. Instead, it demonstrates how surface engineering, architecture and cultural reference can converge within a single commission. It is more an investigation of how traditional forms can be reinterpreted through modern craft than a product launch.

Delivered to its Middle Eastern client, Phantom Arabesque takes its place not as a variant but as a singular expression of the Bespoke philosophy.
