2026 Renault Symbioz Eco-G

By Lorenzo Bianchi

  • The new Eco G 120 uses a 1.2 litre three cylinder turbo adapted to run on both petrol and LPG.

  • Output rises to 120 hp and 200 Nm, increases of 20 hp and 30 Nm over Renault's previous LPG generation.

  • Separate 48 litre petrol and 50 litre LPG tanks provide up to 1,500 km of combined range.

The 2026 Renault Symbioz Eco G adds another powertrain choice to Renault's C segment crossover, this time aimed at drivers who want the running cost benefits of LPG without giving up the ability to run on petrol.

There is no major visual reinvention tied to the new engine. The press photography on pages four and five shows the familiar Symbioz body, including its slim lighting, sculpted sides and relatively upright rear. The real changes sit underneath. Renault has introduced a new generation bi fuel system with more power, additional torque and a larger LPG tank.

Familiar Symbioz Design Carries Over

Renault does not describe any Eco G specific exterior styling changes in the supplied material. That leaves the existing Symbioz shape intact, which is useful here because the LPG version is intended to sit alongside the mild hybrid and full hybrid choices rather than operate as a visually separate model.

The page four image shows a green Symbioz from the rear three quarter angle, while page five shows a blue example on the road. Neither displays obvious exterior hardware identifying the alternative fuel system.

Two Fuel Tanks Push Range to 1500 KM

The practical advantage is under the floor. Symbioz Eco G carries two separate tanks, with 48 litres for petrol and 50 litres for LPG. Together they provide a claimed combined range of up to 1,500 km.

When the LPG tank runs empty, the system automatically switches to petrol without requiring driver input. Fuel type can also be selected manually through a dedicated dashboard control.

Renault does not provide revised luggage capacity, passenger space or interior dimensions for the Eco G version in this release.

New 1.2 Litre Turbo Produces 120 HP

The engine is Renault's 1.2 litre HR12 three cylinder turbocharged direct injection petrol unit, adapted for bi fuel operation. It develops 120 hp and 200 Nm, with the latter available from low revs.

Unlike the Clio Eco G 120, which gains a dual clutch automatic, the Symbioz uses a six speed manual gearbox. Renault quotes 0 to 100 km/h in 12 seconds.

On LPG, official consumption starts at 7.1 l/100 km with CO2 emissions from 116 g/km. Petrol figures start at 5.9 l/100 km and 133 g/km respectively.

LPG Sits Alongside Hybrid Alternatives

The positioning is straightforward. Renault already offers mild hybrid and full hybrid powertrains in the Symbioz range, while the Eco G 120 provides a different route to lower running costs. Renault says petrol LPG systems produce 9 percent less CO2 on average than an equivalent petrol engine.

That makes the new version particularly relevant in European markets where LPG infrastructure is already established. Renault says the fuel is available at more than 30 percent of filling stations across Mediterranean, Central and Eastern European markets.
